should I get the swine flu shot? it's free and I have to decide in 5 days?
I'm 17 and in school we got to know that everyone has got the chance to get the vaccine for free but we have to decide within a few days, but I'm not sure, is it a good idea or not?

The shot may be free, but what if you have an adverse reaction to the vaccine? The follow-up medical care will not be free. And even if you have a major injury from the vaccine, you will not be able to sue the pharmaceutical company that made it, because the government gave them full protection from lawsuits.

Most of the flu vaccines contain a high level of mercury (25 mcg). When they said they took the mercury out of vaccines, that didn't apply to flu shots.

This woman had a major neurological injury from a seasonal flu shot. Although the extent of the injury is shocking and most injuries are not so obvious, you should be aware of all the risks of the vaccine. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/health/Redskins_Ambassador_Has_Serious_Health_Problems_After_Flu_Shot_Washington_DC.html

"mstess," the fact that mercury is in tuna is a great reason to avoid tuna, not a good reason to get the flu shot. Besides, does anyone really inject tuna into their bodies? Injected mercury is a lot worse than ingested mercury. Also, the ethyl mercury from the vaccine permeates the blood brain barrier a lot easier than the methyl mercury from tuna does. Some take advantage of this information to confuse people into believing ethyl mercury is safer than methyl, because it is less detectable in the body. However, this is because it goes to the brain, where it can only be detected during an autopsy.

it will hurt your throat

I wouldn't. I have a phobia of needles anyway but I've heard a lot about the side effects and all that, plus now they're saying that it may not be as effective as they originally thought, since they rushed it out in a super hurry.

It is NOT a good idea to get the swine flu shot. They have not done enough testing with it yet to guarantee there won't be problems like they had in 1976. Tons of people died of the shot.
According to articles I've read lately, all school age children have been the only group to die from this shot.
DO NOT GET THE SHOT free or not! The one in 1976 was free also.

i got the shot.. i feel fine

NO please read this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1206807/Swine-flu-jab-link-killer-nerve-disease-Leaked-letter-reveals-concern-neurologists-25-deaths-America.html

It's not a good idea.

I think you should take the shot. While in school you will be exposed to quite a few people and have a good chance of getting flu if any of your class mates catch it.

I would say, it is a good idea. But, I think you should make a informed decision on whether you want to go for swine flu vaccine or not. I found a good article that might give you insights:

Swine flu, which is an infectious disease, this article gives benefits of hand sanitizing and the basic safety tips to stay healthy from swine Flu:

Good luck!

My children got theirs Tuesday. I think it is a good idea to get it, just to be on the safe side.

Please ignore the scare tactics of the mental midget answers telling you not to get it for a bunch of untrue reasons.

The fact remains that your chances of getting a serious side effect from the vaccine are far and away slimmer than your chances of getting a serious side effect from the flu itself. Not only do you run the risk of you dealing with the flu, but you will be a carrier spreading the disease to others, including your family. Just because it is mild with you doesn't mean the people you pass it along to will have a mild case. Some of them could end up in the hospital.

Since you were given a bunch of bs links, I thought I'd send a story on to you as well. 18 year old in perfect health got the flu. Visited the hospital and was sent home with motrin. Next day he could barely breathe. Went to another hospital, where he was admitted with serious H1N1 complications. His kidneys failed, he was put on a breathing machine, and they eventually amputated his legs in a desperate (but futile) attempt to stop the spread of the infection. He died seven days after first checking in.
