Wisdom teeth removal?
So i am getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, and i am really afraid, i an not afraid of needles but i am more afraid of AFTER the surgery. I just don't wanna get sick from my painkillers. Also i have heard good and bad experiences, so what is yours????
please help me i am FREAKING out here!!! and i really want a speedy recovery. my oral surgeon said it shouldn't be that bad because my teeth aren't really rooted a lot. But i am reallly afraid of the after thing, and getting sick after. Any tips for a speedy/painless recovery?
i need some words of wisdom (pardon the pun)

my surgery its self was bad... but my teeth were impacted and it was alot worse than yours should be. I just cried lol! I was a wimp! but everyone else I know were eating the next day.. all depends on you! but the recovery is fast! (depending on the stitches) but I was back to normal in a week, everyone else was like 3 days! good luck! you will be fine!

It wasn't as bad as I had been led to believe. The ice pack they give you (it wraps around your head and jaw so the ice stays on the sore parts) is really good, more helpful than the painkillers really. The most annoying thing was not be able to chew. I got bored with soft food very fast.

Lo
it is good that your are not rooted. my friend's were so she had to get some of the bone taken out too and said it hurt a lot.

as for me it wasn't too bad. i got a little puffy, but besides that i can't really remeber any horrible pain. you can't open your mouth too much so i had to like pour yogurt in my mouth lol.

a week or 2 after the surgery it is kind of annoying because food will like get stuck in the holes where your teeth were lol.

and i only took like 1 or 2 of the pain killers. i wouldn't worry too much though! since they aren't rooted i don't think it will be too bad!

I just had all 4 of mine removed Friday. I was worried just like you. I heard plenty of bad stories how people cried and so on. I had 2 of them pulled out and 2 of them cut out. It is not that bad like everyone else says. It is a little sore and the food you have to eat is terrible. Just watch out not to get a dry socket because that will hurt. I have stitches on the bottom two and the stitches are uncomfortable. I went to wal-greens purchased some clove oil which is what some dentists use and it knocked out the pain in the hole completely. IT REALLY WORKS! If you feel sick from the pain medication take a half of one with an aleve.

I just got mine removed. Mine was a little painful (throbbing) nothing dramatic and had a very swollen jaw. Otherwise, i recovered pretty quickly.

Honestly how painful it gets after the surgery fully dedpends on how experienced the doctor is. Its more of a swelling of your face that is going to bother you. You might not be able to open your mouth fully.

Also, please follow the instructions and eat soft food and dont drink anything hot and stick to cold drinks to help to bring down the swell. Eat plenty of ice cream if possible.

Good luck!

My experience was good. The surgery went pretty quick put the laughing gas on me and put the IV in and I was out and by the time I woke up I was in this room with my boyfriend by me. You will be VERY tired after words just like any other surgery. But I did get sick once though only because of the blood going into my stomach thats all. But the pain killers aren't bad at all and if you just listen to what the surgeon tells you; you will have a speedy recovery. I didn't drink out of a straw for 2 weeks or play with the stitches, don't eat anything hard only soft things. Good luck =]

Calm down, it's not that bad. I had mine taken out. You'll feel extremely tired after. You may not even remember the car ride home. The wrap around ice pack was awesome, it helped a lot. If you have any issues with the pain medication, just let the doctor know so that he/she may try something different for you. Just be very, very, very, very careful with what/how you eat and drink after surgery to avoid what they call "dry socket". It happened to one of mine...much worse than anything that happened right after the surgery. There is medicine they can administer for that as well, but you will have to return to the surgeon's office at least 3 or 4 more times for that. Just follow all of your instructions carefully and you should be fine. Good Luck to you.
