 What can i do to prevent the pain caused from braces?

I just got braces and they are hurting very bad?
I just got them this morning and it didn't hurt when I got them, but then they started to hurt a while after. I haven't been able to eat the simplest things that seem it would be typical to eat. I've been taking advil, but it still hurts very bad. How long will this pain last?

♥light up the sky;
I got braces a week ago and wanted to rip them off for the next couple of days, but don't worry, it'll get a lot better :) Just eat yogurt, jello, pudding, haha stuff like that. I'm sure you'll look great after you'll get them off, it'll be worth it :}

: )
When I had braces, they didn't hurt that bad. But whenever it was sore, I took one advil&Ibuprofen. The pain would just go away. (:

it will hurt for about 3 days i took ibuprofen and that helped alot but u will get used to them after a week

lts normal (: l've taken paracetamol and they didn't work. The pain lasts around a week. Sometimes your teeth are sensitive after but this feeling subsides after a while. You'll get used to it after a while.

oh! my sister just got them like two weeks ago and she had the same problem..
it took her about a week to get used to them and for the pain to go away,
but during that week she only ate soft foods so that helped alot (:

good luck

I have never had braces but my niece and nephew did have them. Apparently, the first week after fitting is failrly painful and can be managed with standard painkillers and really soft squishy foods. Each time that the braces are adjusted, you will need to stick to the painkillers and mushy stuff. It will all be worth it in the end as my niece and nephew now have absolutely stunning teeth, which took around eighteen months to achieve. If I remember correctly, they had thier braces adjusted every two months or so. Stick with it, you will be gobsmacked with the results.

I am more than happy to help you with your question as I use to wear fixed braces myself.

When I first got my fixed braces, they did not hurt. I noticed after a few hours that my teeth felt tender, sore and painful. I also found it difficult to eat food because my teeth and gums were sensitive.

I decided to stick to soft foods and the pain lasted for nearly for a week.

This normal for people who have just started wearing fixed braces. It is also a good indication that your teeth have started moving.

Also I must tell you that you will experience the same thing after your orthodonist adjusts your fixed braces each time.

I hope this helps you. Take care always.

Ive my braces on a month now and they do pain bad for the first few days i had a lot of ice cream it helped the gums but make sure and brush really well after every time you eat something very important! I had a lot of mashed up dinners but i can manage most things now stick with it you ll be fine hope the pain goes soon :)

they do hurt at first, this should get better after a few days

whenever you go and have your brace tightened it will hurt again for a few days but it will be worth it in the end:0)

hang in there

i have braces and when i first got them it only hurt for 3-4 days. i also tried taking ibuprofen and it worked great. they might hurt again once their tightened but just take the ibuprofen again and it should do the trick.
