How do you tell a 4year old boy that His Mother has breast cancer?

what causes cancer? does eating meat?
I am trying to be more aware of cancer and how to protect my children from the disease. Does anyone know what is linked to cancer? Would it help if my children and I became vegetarians? Is meat part of the problem, or cause of cancer?

i know it sound like a movie but standing too close to radioactive rays like a microwave or standing in sunlight for days if meat is put in crap microwave.

Did you know your emotions can trigger illness? They can cause real physical changes within your body.

A traumatic emotional experience, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a severe worry, fear or any other threat , causes you stress on a physical and emotional level.

The solution is to address the physical symptoms, by getting to the bottom of any emotional conflict, and heal yourself emotionally.

Then, if you listen to the fundamental laws of nature -- to eat healthy foods, exercise and deal with your emotional hurdles -- it will go a long way toward keeping you out of the doctor’s office and helping you prevent cancer altogether.

everything causes cancer.

just making everything organic and as natural as possible. Plastic, Aluminum and Radiation can help produce cancer. Exercise and eat well and live positively

You are unnecessarily getting scared and worrisome. Design a good balanced diet for your entire family and follow it strictly. Cancer is a sneaky monster that can be kept at bay with good habits.

actually from what i have read and heard you have the cells in you each one of us does. the problem is sometimes genes activates it and they seem to not know how. it could be diet it could be lots of things. but i know meat does help and eating veggies and green leavy stuff and chicken fish are best. remember the only one that does not get cancer is the shark. i also heard that cancer is cured in overseas places but not here.

hey if they knew the answer to that there would be no more cancer.

being as healthy as possible is best. not all of us can afford the best foods, exercise clubs etc.

drink 1-3 glasses of green tea each day.

it reduces chances of cancer and .. stroke?.. by about 60%

read it somewhere, they don't have to be vegetarians, they can eat meat, but there is food out there which reduces chances of cancer.

try searching for it.

Cancer starts in your cells,in the center of a cell is the nucleus where your DNA lies in the center.Once that DNA gets damaged it goes bad and tells your to divide and keep dividing.Protein helps your cells. It helps prevent cancer too.If your children do become a vegetarian take some spacial protein full pills.I recommend some chewing pills.

Cancer can be caused by many things, asbestos, radiation (including solar), chemicals, etc.

Meat itself would not be a major source of cancer, as humans have eaten meat for many many many generations and it is essential to proper development (the protein in meat and the vitamins in meat are both very good, you can get them elsewhere but not in as digestible form as in meat)

Your best bet would be to stay way from the foods that are most processed (microwave dinners, etc.) and eat a well balanced diet (to include small portions of meat, with larger portions of fruits, vegetables, and grains)

A high intake of red meats have been linked to colon cancer, but there is little reason to freak out about a steak every 3 days unless you have had a family history of cancer. Other factors more important than meat is contaminantion, family history, and radiation exposure.

Buy natural foods and meats, organic and grass fed but there is no way to 'prevent' cancer as it is also genetic. You could live in an old/new home with unforseen hazards? Don't eat anything that lasts more then a few days, like canned soup- yucky!

Genes, environment, radiation, and carcinogens. Current guidelines suggest that you eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but still keep some meat in there. If you eat healthy and exercise it will decrease your chances. However, cancer is becoming very widespread, about 2 out of 3 people will most likely get cancer.

Some people are predisposed to it, genetically.
Some people get cancer caused by life style.
Some people get it by Cigarette smoking, chewing tobacco, cigars and pipe smoking.
Some people are exposed to industrial chemicals that are cancer causing.
Some people live healthy lives even though they are exposed to all of the above.
Eating meat alone will not cause cancer unless there is a high dose of hormones used in the feed and the person eats unusually large quantities and there are no vegetables and fruits in the diet. I, personally have not eaten any meat in quite awhile but it is because I feel better when I do not eat any type of meat. Chemicals used in the raising of chicken, turkey, cow, etc. have increased ten fold over the recent years because of the expense in raising and feeding. We are human guinea pigs because no one knows for sure how those chemicals will effect the body over a long period of time. I think becoming a vegetarian, as long as you maintain the proper balance of vitamins and proteins, will be beneficial.

I was vegetarian for 15 years, 5 out of those years I was vegan.. I still got cancer. So for me it didn't prevent it.

I am a little wary of the hormones that animals such as cows ingest which can make its way into our systems through milk & beef.

Anyone who says they know definitively what effect these hormones have on people is lying. There is no way to know what effect they have, because there hasn`t been enough time to study the effects yet. So guess who the guinea pigs are - consumers like you and I.

There are reasons the cancer rates are rising. The food industry doesn`t want people to start looking at them, but really - raising animals in disgusting conditions then pumping them full of hormones and feeding them to people is not natural.

So personally, I don`t think meat in moderation is necessarily the problem, but I think the way the animals are treated & raised is (or could be).

Nobody knows what causes cancer.

I have been vegetarian for most of my life (I'm 56) and vegan for several years, and I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer 5 years ago.

A diet high in red and processed meat is a risk factor for colorectal cancers and is also thought to be a possible risk factor for stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer.

Vegans and vegetarians develop cancer at pretty much the same rate as other people.

There's no particular food or diet that's been proven to cause or contribute to cancer. A healthy diet is always important but won't protect you from cancer.

Smoking is linked to lung and some other cancers (not all) and excessive sunbathing to skin cancers, so there are a few precautions you can take. But nobody knows why of two people with the same risk factors (or lack of them), one will develop cancer and the other won't. Cancer affects the healthy and the unhealthy alike.

Tsunami - Gary Ostrander and colleagues from Johns Hopkins University have detailed more than 40 published examples of tumours in sharks, some dating back to the 1800s. The myth that sharks don't get cancer is peddled by quacks wanting to part desperate and vulnerable people from their cash in exchange for shark cartilage.

And where did the myth that there are cancer cures outside the US start ffs? Yesterday I read in an answer on here stating that there are effective cancer cures in Europe that are denied to cancer patients in the US. As a European who's had cancer, I can tell you there most certainly are not. We have the same treatments as people in the US.

And no, we don't all have cancer cells in us waiting to be triggered - cancer happens when normal cells change so that they grow in an uncontrolled way.

One in two men and one in three women will develop cancer. Fewer than 10% of cancer cases are hereditary. The biggest risk factor for most cancers is age - most cancer cases occur in people over 60, and this is why cancer appears more common these days; because of better health care people are living longer and so are more likely to develop cancer.

One of the reasons humans evolved such sophisticated brains is because we became meat eaters. Becoming a vegetarian does not prevent cancer.

Burnt, charred, grilled meat is thought to be a risk factor. Other than that,no it doesn't cause cancer.

Tsunami, You should probably lay off the nonsense websites. Sharks DO get cancer, for one. We have cells that may mutate and turn cancerous. We don't have cancer cells floating around in our bodies. Cancer is no more cured "overseas" than here.

Actually the stats are, 1 in 3 will develop cancer in their lifetime. Why? People live longer and most cancers occur mainly in the aged.
