Atromid-S

Uses
This medication is used to reduce high cholesterol blood levels.
Notes
  • For best results, this medication should be used along with a low fat, low cholesterol diet.
  • Follow any dietary guidelines recommended by your doctor or dietician.
  • Periodic laboratory tests will be done to monitor the effectiveness of this medication.

Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
  • Do not store in the bathroom.

How To Use
  • This medication may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs.
  • Take this medication as directed.
  • Do not increase your dose or stop taking this without first consulting your doctor.

Side Effects
  • Stomach upset, nausea, loose stools, bloating, gas, dizziness, drowsiness or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication.
  • Other side effects reported include mouth sores, dry or itchy skin, brittle hair, change in sex drive or decreased sexual function or muscle aches.
  • If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • Notify your doctor if you develop chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, severe stomach pains, vomiting, skin rash, breathing trouble, decreased urine output, blood in the urine, swelling of the feet or ankles, fever, chills, sore throat or weight gain while taking this medication.
  • Long-term use of this medication may increase your risk of developing gallstones.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • This medication should not be used during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing kidney disease, liver disease, gallbladder disease or gallstones, heart disease, ulcers or if you have any allergies.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially insulin, blood thinners, oral antidiabetic medication or probenecid.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
