Time Taken: 6 months

Reason: Anxiety Date: 26 June 2010
Side Effects
Memory loss, lessened lung capacity, constipation, more sleepiness than my doctor told me I would experience.

Additional Thoughts
My doc told me Ativan wasn't supposed to be overly addictive, but I could set the clock by the sensations I got when the next dose was due, and this drug was by far the hardest drug I ever withdrew from, even though I followed doctors advise in a slow withdraw process. I'd rather die from anxiety than ever take this drug again.

Reason: Anxiety Disorder Date: 26 February 2010
Side Effects
- Light clumsiness - Light hypnotic effects - Moderate forgetfulness - Moderate sedation and sleepiness

Additional Thoughts
I had confusion with the first few doses (acted like I was drunk) with no memory of the event afterwards. This is due to me being on this drug P.R.N. and taking more than may have been needed. Still am lightly clumbsy and forgetful at times. Monitor closely when you begin this drug.

Side Effects
painful and debilitating withdrawls between doses. Ruined my marriage of 21 years. lost my job. I isolated myself for weeks at a time. Ativan works for medical procedures fine. Not intended for use over 2 weeks and even then it may be too late. It is 10x stronger than Valium and takes effect 10x quicker. It only last about 10 hours. That's why it is so addictive and leaves you withdrawls b4 the next dose is due. 2mg can knock out a 300 lb man in 15 minutes. it is also used for combative patients in psyche wards and emergency rooms. 2 mg of Ativan is equal to about 40-50 mg of Ambien..the normal dose of Ambien is 10 mg. do the math!

Additional Thoughts
This drug is pure evil and highly addictive. There are newer and much better alternatives. This is a Benzo type drug and all benzo's are bad for you. Benzo's are harder than anything, even heroin, to withdraw from. Quitting cold turkey can be fatal! Ativan/Lorazepam will ruin your life, no ands, ifs, or buts about it.
