Maitake Uses Maitake is a Japanese mushroom used as an herbal medicine for cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hypertension (high blood pressure), hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides), and to improve your immune system. Other names for Maitake include: Grifola frondosa, Henn of the woods, and Sheep's head. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist if you need more information about this medicine or if any information in this leaflet concerns you. Storage Keep all medicine locked up and away from children. Store medicine away from heat and direct light. Do not store your medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places.
