Shitake Uses Shitake is a mushroom that is used as an herbal medicine for cancer, hepatitis, HIV, colds and flues, to boost the immune system, lower cholesterol, and to eliminate worms. Other names for Shitake include: Lentinan edodes, Forest Mushroom, and Ha Gu. How To Use Talk with your caregiver about how much Shitake you should take. The amount depends on the strength of the medicine and the reason you are taking Shitake.
