Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat various acid-related stomach and/or throat (esophagus) problems (e.g., acid reflux or GERD, ulcers, erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome). It works by blocking acid production in the stomach. Omeprazole may be used in combination with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, clarithromycin) to treat certain types of ulcers.
