Why are my eyes so sensitive?
Hi, I'm Kelly. Also I'm a 10 year old.(I don't know if that makes a difference...)Well, I often go to water parks and whenever I go down a slide to the pool at the end, swim under water, etc. I cant help but have my eyes become sensitive! When water goes in my eyes it burns. On a scale from 1 to 10 it would be between 4 and 6. But when it's a warm day and I use a spray to bottle to spray my face with my eyes a little over half open, it doesn't burn like it does in a pool (What I use is filtered tap water). But it does feel like my eye is cramping. Is it just the chlorine? Is it something else? May I be allergic? Please don't give me an answer like "just because" "It's the chlorine" or "then don't go to the water park" because any details will help:D. PS, I'm sorry if I came off as bossy:[ I just want to have fun with my friends<3 And not think about my eyes:D

They are sensitive due to the lighter color.. (I have hazel eyes, and mine are extremely sensitive to the sun/glare and so on). This is a common characteristic of those with anything but Dark pigmented eyes. Sure they may look pretty, but it does come at a price, right? The only thing that could help sensitivity is to use the Bates sunning method. Which is ancient in principle, but involves closing your eyes and facing the sun. Letting the bright sun "de-sensitize" your fovea. This isn't instant, and isn't necessarily proven effective -- but it won't hurt. Do it everyday, or at least a few times a week for at least 10 minutes at a time. You can look it up, there are specific instructions on moving certain ways, etc.. but the general premise is to safely expose the eyes to bright light WITHOUT looking at the sun. Never stare at the sun. Also, make sure your diet is sensible, you are getting enough sleep, and a multivitamin wouldn't hurt if you don't already take one. If you can handle it,.. try to cut down on your sun-glass usage. Again, this is something that takes a bit of time.. so it literally hurts a bit. Use your head here. If you are out in blinding sunlight for a long period of time.. wear the shades. Though if you are in your car, or just going from one building to the next.. or your eyes feel 'ok' that day.. leave them off. Our eyes do adapt over time to darker or brighter environments. Though as a rule, lighter pigmented eyes are more light sensitive.

Just the chlorine it hurts your eyes and makes them sensitive. Some people just have sensitive eyes. also if your eyes are blue, they are suppousibly suppose to be more sensitive. I think theres eyedrops you can get
