Additional Details
I'm not over weight

Eliminate any possible food allergies (see Food Allergy, page 146).
Avoid aggravating foods, including all fatty and fried foods. See Blueprint for Health, page xvii, for more information on eliminating fat from the diet.
Increase your fiber intake, particularly more of the following foods: fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, and Oat Bran.
If you are overweight, lose weight on a sensible diet. Do not go on an extremely low-calorie diet, as this can exacerbate gallstones.
Be sure to drink six to eight glasses of water daily.
Eat a healthy breakfast daily.
Avoid caffeine.

Lecithin: 500 mg. three times a day,
IN ADDITION: Surgery is the traditional route for gallstones that are persistent and troublesome. But there are some new techniques that are being used in lieu of conventional surgery: a drug that dissolves stones; a new surgical technique using laparoscopic (microsurgical) instruments that require small incisions; a shock wave lithotripsy that "crushes" the stones. These techniques have their advantages and disadvantages and should be discussed with your doctor.

Recent reports in Lancet, a respected British medical journal, made a connection between gallstones and fair-skinned people who suntan. In general, people who enjoy sunbathing have twice the risk of gallstones; fair-skinned people who sunbathe arc at twenty times more risk than non-sunbathers of developing gallstones. This research is in its preliminary stages, but it could be significant for fair-skinned sun lovers

I have had 5 gallstones for over 30 years, I have to watch my diet, I still eat the same foods as everyone else but have to watch fried food and dairy products which I do eat but only once a week, I cannot eat spicy food as this can set of the pain - I have managed this diet for 30 years with no more gallbladder pain.

Corn, milk, and general greasy food.

Dr Frank
Basically you should be on an ultra low fat diet, while waiting for your cholecystectomy.

You don't need to be over weight to have gall stones, the main foods i had to stay away from are spicy fatty foods eg, chinnese, indian, chipshop, etc.

avoid foods high in fat.

hiya i had galstones and had my bladder removed two months ago, when i used to eat fatty foods, oily foods or spicy foods i used to get pain, and dr also advised me to stop eating those kinds of foods too. so deffinately avoid those types of foods.

in medical school, they talk of the risk factors for gallstones as Fs. fat , female, fertile, forty, and some more which i cannot recall.
in general, fatty foods shourld be avoided, but that applies to all of us anyway.

Avoid oily or fried food when they are playing up and ask you GP about having the stones broken up with laser therapy, this is not a surgical procedure. Or you can have your gall bladder removed by simple keyhole surgery, it's not a really necessary organ and millions of people live without one and the pain caused by gall stones as a result.

Your doctor is the best person to advise on diet for your condition, but I guess fatty foods should be avoided.

potatoes, sometimes dairy products go on a gluten, wheat dairy free diet. the latter mite sound borin but compared to when i went on it it has changed quite a bit.

Avoid fatty or fried foods and red meat. On salads, substitute commercial dressings with vinegar - and olive oil - a 'good' fat.

Instead of large meals, eat small amounts of food during the day, and especially avoid any large meals at bedtime.

Avoid carbonated drinks, which can trigger the movement of the stones causing even more pain.
