LIKE I SAID BEFORE, how many of you are gonna keep asking this question: i work at a call center so i dont have to use much energy just thinking, i fasted for 2 months water only, but i have done short water fast before to build up like 1 days then 2 days then 3 then 4 then i jumped to 60 day fast, i lost 100lbs you wont have a life after work i slept or rather stayed in the bed, you body will tell you to sleep once you use up the fuel made by your liver for that day so if you use it early, it will force you sleep, like it did me twice, either sleep or black out while riding a bike," ya that happen to me", so if you work had i suggest a juice diet during work or 1000 calarie diet during work week then water fast the week ends, and yes your brain needs protien to live, if none is from food it takes it from muscle, so in the end you will have lost alot of weight, but you will still have alot more fat water weight then 15% muscle a week will be lost, my brother did it while he wa in jail also, he still had a belly looked weired but all his muscle where gone, looked like ET
just to add my wife lost alot of weight also do the opposite, cuz fasting is really not for woman cuz they are naturally fat so they dont have muscle to supply them that long on a fast, she did the 6 mini meals aday diet and excersive 6 300 calorie or below healthy meals a day keeps the gut burning and useing fuel, i felt her she was hot all the time but her body was shapping out, which i like, plus she speed walked for 2 miles a day |

hmm wel i went on a 200cal diet for two wees where i ate 200 clas a day for 2 weeks and lost ten punds but gained five back quickly when i started eating again |

well if u starve your self u will die. your body starts to shut down. and u will only loose 1-3 ponds a week |

Please, please, please: it is "lose" not "loose"! "Loose weight" would be something heavy rolling around unsecured in the back of a car, for example.
I note that here today on Answers are other questions asking if grammar, punctuation and spelling is important (note that "is" is perfectly correct, as I am talking about all three items. If I had put "or" between grammar, etc, it would also be correct to say "is"). Maybe this shows that they are, if one wants to be understood. |

If you starve yourself, your body goes into 'starvation mode' this caused protein catabolism, resulting in muscle breakdown. The heart is a muscle and can be damaged in this way.

I will cut and paste my stock answer, however it is interesting to see how close this is ( I have been using it for over 2 months), to a recent paper from University of California. They did a meta-analysis of all the work on weight loss over the past few years. ( summary) It showed that 2/3 of people who diet yo-yo to a higher weight, none of the faddy diets of diet pills work and that rapid weight loss doubles heart attack risk!
They seemed to suggest the only hope was modest calorie reduction + EXERCISE.

I have to admit I have a 'stock' answer for this question, since if you look it appears 20-30 times every day!!!
Type 'guaranteed weight loss' into google, you will find 1 1/2 million sites!
Look around you if ANY of these things worked would we be getting so overweight?
We are what we eat, but we are at least as much what we don't do. Calorie intakes in 1900 and 1950 were higher than they are now, we just don't use them up!
Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg.
Take a healthy amount of exercise 30-40 minutes of vigorous exercise per day 4-5 days a week. I hate to think what percentage of the UK population does that 2%? 5%?
I have seen hundreds of questions with this same pattern :- I am fat, tell me where on line I can get this super diet or herbal/dangerous/illegal drug that I hear will fix it for me in 10 minutes without the need for me to get off the couch!
No fixes pal , less in more out, its the only way. |

well first of all don't starve yourself it will make you well look fatter but your weight # will drop your body will eventually take your fat and store it in your stomach mainly to keep itself running it knows you are not going to do anything so it takes it upon its self to slowly burn the fat with the activities you do. |

LONGER than if you were to do it in a healthy way .This is because your body goes into famine mode,which means your body will hold on to the fat that is already stored on your body,and this is because your body has recognised that it is no longer receiving the nutrients it needs like it was before.
Then your stomach will swell(bloating)because it will fill with air and a build up of acids,in which case you will maybe suffer indigestion,vomiting and bouts of fainting.This is a very dangerous way of dieting,and i would most definitely advise you don't. |

Immediately, but most of it is water loss. Diet must be long term for any permanent weight loss and sensible eating must be continuous for it to succeed. Starving induces the Metabolic processes to slow down Countering the effects of low diet. When normal eating begins the body Will over compensate by adding on more weight because it thinks there is a famine. Long term sensible eating is the only answer. |

You'll look haggered and exhausted (not skinny and glam), and you'll head will be too foggy for you to go out anyway.
But, in answer to your question. A dress size is about 8lbs, so you can drop a dress size in a week without food.
Problem is that you'll bring on the body's famine response. Which means as soon as you start eating again you'll regain the weight you lost plus about 10% in a mere couple of days. And there's not a damned thing you can do to stop it happening. |

wouldn't recommend it as your body just shuts down and goes into starvation made.. after a couple of weeks you won't lose any weight at all and when you stop you put the weight you lost back on and sometimes even more..
Eating Disorders are not plesant. The way you are going about dieting you may develop anorexia. Just follow a healthy diet plenty of fruit and veg and exercise regularly. |

Why are you starving yourself? Do you think it's a good idea? If you starve yourself over a long period of time,you will for a FACT damage your internal organs, which CAN result in heart failure and many other things. I'm not trying to scare you but you need to be aware of what happens to your body when you starve yourself. |

it takes a long time and before you you even start losing any weight from this stupid method of starving you self, you just get very ill first. It is proven that it is much, much quicker if you just eat healthily. Besides you have to be damn right stupid, under alot of stress or just plain shallow to starve yourself! |

if ur working out then u should see a difference in about 2 wks...but rember to take in fluids and some soft food...else when u try to eat again after ur fasting..ur stomach wont be able to handle food! |

This is the dumbest question i have seen yet! If you starve yourself you are not losing real weight ex.calories and fat, you are losing muscle mass and essencially your life. Starving your self will shut down your vital organs. You can go into heart failure and do permanennt irreversible damage to your heart, kidneys, liver...If you would like to lose weight get off your tooshie and exercise. Eat six small meals a day filled with fiber and protien. Lots of fish, chicken and whole grains, and walk or run. You won't look great in a casket. |

Please DO NOT STARVE yourself to find out! There is nothing worse than people who go on crash diets. The best way to loose weight is to eat a healthy diet with lots of fish, fresh fruits and vegetables and have a planned exercise routine to work on all areas of your body.
Depending on much weight you should lose in order to be healthier .... you can expect a noticeable change within a few weeks. First you will find that your clothing fits looser than before. The best weight loss is the one that happens gradually and by being sensible.
Starving your body of food and nutrients can give you all kinds of problems. The heart muscle is usually one of the first to be affected. Ask your doctor for a plan of diet and exercise or have him refer you to a nutritionist.

The thing is that when you starve yourself and you loose weight, when you've lost the weight that you wanted to loose and you start eating again your body will store everything that you put in your mouth as fat because you have deprived it of the fat that it needs. Because of this you will gain all of your weight back plus some. The best thing to do is to get on a well balanced diet and exercise program and loose the weight slowly. You didn't put on the weight overnight so you aren't gonna loose it overnight. Good luck. |
