My fasting is 117 do i have diabetes?
i had checked my blood at about 7:00 in the morning with the help of the Accu-Check meter

only a qualified person can answer that question. go see a doctor

AccuCheck meters are notoriously low in their readings!!

go get doctor's appointment for complete physical including blood draw for CBC, complete blood count, and Lipids Panel.

If your glucose is high your cholesterol and triglycerides will also be high. And you probably also have an elevation of blood pressure as well.

So!! go to the doctor's office and find out if you have problems or not. It is much better to find these things out before high glucose levels do very much damage to tiny blood vessels and nerve endings!! Do Not Wait til you are blind or have bad sores on feet or no feelings in toes or fingers!!

Glucometer value are less than the lab result values

High levels of glucose most frequently indicate diabetes, The following information summarizes the meaning of the test results.

From 70 to 99 mg/dL (3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L) Normal fasting glucose

From 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) Impaired fasting glucose (pre-diabetes)

126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) and above on more than one testing occasion Diabetes

Your fasting level is a little bit on the high side, for the normal range is 80-120. It is possible that you are prediabetic, so the best thing is to get the HA1c checked (your average sugar level for the past 3 months). Don't worry! I can tell you are a little nervous about it, but don't go jumping to conclusions that it is diabetes. And if it is, it is not the end of the world! I have diabetes and I thought it was the end of the world, but taking the shots is really just a routine that you get used to quickly. Again, don't worry! Go to the doctor and relax.

Meters are not accurate enough to diagnose with. Get an HbA1c done and also a glucose tolerance test.

If your fasting blood sugar level is 100 mg/dL to 125 mg/dL, you may have impaired fasting glucose — commonly known as prediabetes. To confirm the diagnosis, your doctor may repeat the fasting blood sugar test several days to a week later.
