It may clear up on its own but there is a danger of the jaw bone becoming infected so you would be well advised to visit a dentist.

dbjsheldon
mostly yes,but your dentist would need to of checked it first

EDWARD W
As a matter of fact teeth dont have infections but gums do. You have to see the dentist and have all your teeth out and your gums treated.

If it goes away with antibiotics, that's not on its own. Antibiotics from the Doctor should clear it up.

No. You will not only have to get some antibiotics for it; you will also need to get that tooth pulled. I tried living with a tooth infection hoping it would go away. I don't like dentist too much. But--about 5 months ago, I finally gave up and went to the dentist office and found out that I had a tooth infection on my right side. I had to take antibiotics for 1 week, before the dentist could even pull the tooth.

I would tell you what the name of the antibiotics that I have to take, but the name on the medicine bottle has since been rubbed off.

It all depends on what sort of infection- there's no straightforward answer to this one. Even antibiotics won't fix all infections without some sort of dental surgery.

The best thing is to go and see a dentist as soon as you can- you wouldn't leave a suspected infection anywhere else in your body.

The only thing that antibiotics can make go away completely is if you have a gum infection.

If it is infection of the tooth then the antibiotics will only get rid of the symptoms temporally, so you should go ahead with the treatment your dentist has suggested.

Antibiotics will only temporarily halt the infection. If it is a gum infection, only a really thorough cleaning will help. If it is an infection of the nerve of the tooth, only a root canal will eliminate the infection. Occasionally, the infection can reoccur then you may need to go to a specialist.

Ms Dee
Yes it can in the short term but you may need the tooth removed eventually.

murrayc
It should be ck'd as it could go into your blood stream and cause grave results.

Donna L
That could happen but consult your Dentist too. sometimes the infection could come back because of the tooth or teeth needing attention.

No they will not go away on there own, The infection sits in the decayed tooth sockett. There is a good chance the infection will go staight to your jaw or heart. Trust me you dont want that. go to the dentist ASAP!

What happens is that the antibiotics fight the infection not the cause of the infection.

So it may relieve the immediate symptoms but usually the symptoms will reoccur as the original reason for the infection has not been removed.

The usual ways of making a tooth infection "go away" is either to extract the whole tooth or to clean out the pulp canal inside the tooth(root canal therapy).

Antibiotics are purely a short term measure which do not solve the problem.

marie_sahiry
no it can not go away on its own but . aLL YOU JUST HAVE TO DO IS GO TO THE DENTIST

Yea, the infection can go away, temporarily, BUT, if you don't get the tooth fixed that caused the infection to begin with, then the infection will most certainly come back.

So, get rid of the infection, AND fix the tooth.

BEST WISHES.
