My back hurts so bad after walking around or standing for a few hours?
Im 20-female- and my back hurts like crazy. if i stand and do the dishes for 1-2 hours it will start up and noting stops it, not sitting not having my boyfriend "massage" it. Nothing. Recently we've been packing to move and ive been working for several hours at a time-but i usually sit in a chair and bubble wrap stuff in front of me and it still causes my back to hurt. the only fix ive sort of found-if its night time or i haven't slept-is to go to sleep. when i wake up the pains gone for awhile anyway. Is there anything i can do to help. i try to use good posture-but if its already hurting that doesn't help, and sometimes even makes it hurt more. Are there stretching exercises i could do or other ways to fix it. I know everyone says take a hot bath, but we currently don't have hot water and its not like its realistic to take a hot bath every 2 hours. hot compress really doesn't do anything either..Anyone have any advice??

Your pain is caused by a pinched muscle in your back. When you are standing and walking around you have all the extra body weight on the pinched area to flare up the pain. when you are sleeping you have removed all the weight from the pinched area so it feels better for that time. You have to release the muscles in your back to get rid of this pinched muscle and here's how to do that:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Hello, Jane. I will try my best to help you, though your information is not complete to understand your problem.
1. If you feel pain on the "surface" of your back (pain is not internal) and while movement and you do not have fever- it more likely means that your back muscles are involved. Usually it appears after lifting of heavy things. In this case you should have bed rest and apply COLD (not heat) to the site of pain.
2. If your pain is localized in the lower part of your back (loin) and is of internal character - kidneys may be involved. You need ultrasound investigation.
2a. If no fever and especially if you have low body weight- it may be nephroptosis (lower then normal position of kidney). In this case you should have bed regimen with your lower part of body elevated, plus use bandage on your loin. Seek for medical help.
2b. If you have fever - it may be pyelonephritis (kidney infection). In this case you need specialized medical help.

Anyway, the best dicision is to consult a doctor.

You might have injured it somehow so I would start by seeing your doctor. There are some stretching exercises you can do but you must do them every day. Your doctor may be able to tell you how to do these stretches. The unfortunate thing is even in this day and age medical professionals still don't know much about treating back problems and I know people who have experienced back pain off and on for years without much relief. What works for one person may not work for everyone. Good luck.

Douglas is right!! I have the same thing and have already had one back surgery from a tractor accident and know they say to fix the problem like I have that sounds like yours is to go in through my neck and put a plate in someplace because it's a pinched spinal cord!!! Wear good shoes with good arch supports it will make a big difference. I just paid $65 for INSOLES for my daughter to put in her shoes because she's on her feet and has had back surgery!!!!
