Headaches that get significantly worse when lying down?
I have lupus and fibromyalgia and have developed extremely horrific headaches that can be on one side of my head, on both sides of my head, all over my head, or on the back of my head. But with any of these headaches, they get incredibly worse if I lie down. Has anyone experienced this? If they have, how do you deal with them?

It sounds like either a nerve problem or a circulatory issue. I would see my doctor about it. If it's a circulatory issue, you could be at increased risk for a stroke and that's usually a problem that's easily diagnosed with an ultrasound or some other type of simple imaging.

The fact that it gets worse when you lie down makes me think it sounds like some of your discs are compressed in your neck. When you lie down it causes already compressed joints to tighten down even more and cause worse pain. Even if the pain is not in your neck the nerves in your neck are connected to the ones that wrap around your head, so things happening in your spine can cause pain all over your head. My chiropractor was able to help me with similar issues using a technique called "Spinal Disc Decompression". You should ask around in your area and see if anyone around you does Decompression and has a Decompression table. The way it was explained to me is your nerves that are in between discs can become compressed and cause pain. I thought decompression was going to be like a hyperbolic chamber or something but it's not. From a website on the subject they describe it as: "a non-surgical procedure that reduces the pressure inside herniated and degenerated discs to allow for the transfer of necessary fluids, oxygen, and nutrients". It's basically a therapy table they strap you to that pulls your neck and shoulders to relieve the pressure in your discs so that your body's natural healing elements can flow into those compressed areas and heal the damage. It may be just the thing for you. And if you try it and don't see a difference you'll be no worse off. I've tried about everything there is to try and this did seem to help. I know you can feel pretty alone being in pain all the time. I really hope it helps you.
