 Is it possible to measure a fart?
I have often tried by counting the seconds they last. Is that a propper method for measuring a fart, or does anyone know of any other way?

I've been having heartburn at night when i go to bed?
I just got over a sore throat, and now every time i go to sleep at night i get heartburn i haven't been eating anything different i've been eating and drinking the same things that i always drank and ate before i got my sore throat...what can be causing this? i've never had this problem before it all just started happening after my sore throat went away....i don't like having heartburn at night because it messes with my sleeping and when i wake up my throat is so dry and when i swallow i feel the heartburn. what can i take to make this go away?

You can try a number of things,tagament ,or raglann,or even pesped ac,or tums,if you don't want to take meds for it ,here are two more thing you could do try putting bricks at the top of your bed under the legs,it brings your bed up a little at the top,with your sleeping you are lying just enough to make your upper body higher then your lower it help with the heartburn,or even acidreflux,my doctor told my this over 20 years ago and i still have bricks uder the top of my bed,also if everything you try is not working go to a docter,thanks and i hope something helps you have a good day.

Just at bedtime >> Drink a cup of Warm milk and maybe a slice of lite bread..milk alone is ok.. If u had a sore throat that may have been cause by acid from your stomach..if this continues more than 10 days I would consult a Physician.. have a good day.

this is a problem that is not that common and i do feel sorry for it. well firstly good on saying that you ate the same things as before. the best thing i'll advice you is not to eat full stomach. eating half way or 3 quarters is best. if you feel you have to eat more, and you know it over what you should then fill you stomach up with drinks. secondly give time to digest. if you go to bed early then have dinner early. i eat at 6.30 and go to bed at 9.30 - 10.00. thats about 3 hours. if you feel a little bit peeckish at bedtime, then have something like milk. warm is best as it is proven it helps with your sleeping. you can add things like holicks to. hope this helps!!

Heart attacks is the leading cause of death in women!! Maybe you should see your doctor, to be on the safe side.

I make sure I don't eat anything for at least 5 hours before I go to bed. Then I try to eat light and avoid any dairy or meat. I eat a lot in the early part of the day but very ight in th evening. I get indigestion and heart burn if I don't follow this.

It could be because of acidity, if you're having the heartburn in the middle of your chest. You can get the heartburn chewable tablets from walgreens; they work in a minute. Last year, I went to doctor, because I thought I am having chest pain; my doc told me its acidity.

Anything with calcium, even milk helps me. Small amount of baking soda also works well.

Make sure you don't eat before you go to bed. It might be that your paying the price now for the "same things" that you consume. How can you make it go away? Raw potatoes, tums, or go see a doctor?

Put another pillow under your neck so your upper body is slightly elevated.
Be careful what you eat late at night.

Try not to eat right before bed especially anything hard on your stomach. Sometimes eating some dry bread/crackers can help calm the acid down and get rid of the heartburn. Take an antacid (tums, etc.) or some pepto-bismol before you lie down and see a doctor if it lasts too long or you don't get relief from any of those methods.

go to the doc and ask them to see if you have acid reflux disease.
You need prescription meds to help this tumms aint going to get rid of it fully and you can cause an ulcer to happen if not treated !

We are all getting older dear, try to sleep with an extra pillow. If you feel unsure go see a doctor.

mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a small glass of water. It tastes kinda gross but it will work. i promose.

1. Eat your big meal at lunch instead of at dinnertime.

2. Eat at least two to three hours before lying down.

3. Avoid foods that are known to lead to heartburn.
These include foods that can trigger your heartburn, either by increasing acid production and gastric pressure or by loosening the lower sphincter muscle. Also, avoid foods that can irritate the lining of the esophagus, such as spicy foods, coffee, citrus fruit and juices. Especially if you eat any of these foods at dinnertime will increase your chances of having nighttime heartburn. If you aren't sure what foods trigger your heartburn symptoms, try keeping a heartburn record for a week. You can also check out a chart for foods with little risk of causing heartburn.

4. Eliminate late-night snacking.

5. Sleep with your head and shoulder on an incline.
Lying down flat presses the stomach's contents against the LES. With the head higher than the stomach, gravity helps reduce this pressure, and keeps stomach contents where they belong--in the stomach. You can elevate your head in a couple of ways. You can place bricks, blocks or anything that's sturdy securely under the legs at the head of your bed. You can also use a wedge-shaped pillow to elevate your head.

6. Sleep on your left side.

Nicotine can weaken the lower esophageal sphincter, which can lead to stomach contents entering the esophagus, with heartburn as a result. Smoking also stimulates the production of stomach acid. Find out the other reasons it's good to stop smoking if you suffer from heartburn.

8. Avoid alcohol.
Alcohol increases the production of stomach acid. Alcohol also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), allowing stomach contents to reflux back up into the esophagus. If you still want to consume alcohol, find out how and when to consume alcohol when you suffer from heartburn.

9. Take an antacid when heartburn hits.
Antacids will work very quickly on heartburn you may be experiencing before you go to bed. It can also be used for those heartburn episodes that wake you up during the night if the heartburn comes back. Unfortunately, this is very possible. An H2 blocker will work for a longer period of time, usually up to 12 hours, but they take an hour or so to begin working, and you are able to go back to sleep. Another option is to combine the two. The antacid will provide the quick relief you need, and will likely last until the H2 blocker begins to work.

If you continue to experience frequent heartburn symptoms at night, see your health care provider. He or she will be able to diagnose whether you are suffering from just occasional heartburn, or something more serious, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, an ulcer, or a hiatal hernia. You will be able to discuss with your health care provider different
