My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when she was 66. she was in a home when she was 67 and completely taken by the disease 6 months later.

What is your average sleeping hours? 4, 6,8hrs....? Is 6 & ½ Normal?

no, but it doesnt matter, if you are feeling ok on it maybe its normal for you.

7 hours of sleep is best suited for adults, 8 hours for the young and developing, and anything is best for seniors, because we don't really care what they do and how they they function.

It depends, at night not many hours- maybe 3 during the day probably 6

4 without, and then I'm not a nice person I have a head ache all day and filled tired.
I haven't ever been able to sleep well, because noise wakes me up light sleeper. I'm not suppose to drink any caffeine so I try not to. But in the mornings I drink a little bit of coffee to get me going. If I drink it at night I'm up all night. I wish there was some way to sleep with out any meds. I haven't took them tonight and it's all most 3 am I still up.

A good sleeping pattern is usually 7 to 9 hours. I usually get 8 to 10 hours depending on the day. Lately, I've been getting 11 or more because I haven't been feeling up to par, and I work nights so when I get off on Sunday morning, I go to bed and sleep for 6 hours, get up andeat supper and watch a movie then I go back to bed and sleep for like 12 hours.

I am doing good if I get 6 hours of sleep a night...this has been a long time going so I don,t think it hurts anything..When your body needs sleep,you will get really sleepy and fall asleep...Its normal for me....

6.5 isn't bad, depending on your age, of course. The older you are the less sleep you need. So, if you're 11 years old that's not enough. If you're in your mid to late 20 or older that's probably about the minimum amount of sleep needed.

I can never sleep more than 6 1/2 hours anymore. I think it's completely normal, particularly if you are not waking up tired.

6-1/2 can be very normal, for you.
It is not just the quanity of sleep but the quality.

5 hours of very good, high quality, REM sleep, is alot bettern than 12 hours of tossing and turning.

If you are able to function well on the amount you are sleeping, not getting sick all the time, not appearing with luggage (large bags) under the eyes, then yeah, you are getting enough quality sleep.

i get 7. a teenager is supposed to get 9 to be completely heathy but i cant ever seem to fall asleep early enough. school should start at like noon. XD

I sleep 9-11 hours but I'm heavily medicated (high BP). Average is 7-8 but as you get older you tend to require less, babies need 10-12 while some high schoolers are fine with 5-6, I was and I still got a 3.9 GPA. 6.5 sounds fine.

Usually 4 or 5. I think anywhere between 6 and 9 is normal.

i ususally sleep 8 hours but yea 6 and 1/2 is normal well depending on your age too

5 hours and a 3 hour nap later in the day - 6 1/2 sounds like not enough sleep ..

I feel best when I can get 8 hours sleep. A lot of people go on less sleep, but just because you can doesn't mean it is advisable. You only live once - do you want to walk through your only chance at life half-asleep? I believe in quality waking hours over quantity.

You really need to get 7-8 hours of sleep to be able to function normally throughout the day.

6-7 and it depends on your age. Older people sleep less because their bodies require less sleep. Teenagers need anywhere from 7-10 hrs of sleep because its need for proper growth.


I sleep generally around 7 hours. The general rule for adults is 7-8 hours of sleep is better. There was a study showing that people who sleep 7 hours as opposed to 8 tend to do better throughout the day. But really it's whatever works for you, if you feel rested after 6 and a 1/2 hours then that's great.
