Step 1- See a doctor
Step 2- Ask if you broke your hand. If the answer is yes, you have a broken hand. If the answer is no, you do not have a broken hand. |

Hi!
I'm trained in first aid so I can help. You should probably go get an X-ray because it is most likely at least a sprain or a break. If you can't move your hand, it is busted. If you can a little bit but it causes lots of pain. It could be broken or sprain. If you can move it without too much pain, it is sprained or bruised. Even if it is just bruised or sprained, there is a 50% chance it is broken. If it is broken, you need a cast to avoid further injury. |

if your hand isnt in to much pain check it for any abnormalities that may have occurred when you hit it and you probably would not be able to type if you broke it because of the fact that your finger bones are connected to your wrist bone |

if its broken your whole arm is Pretty much immobilized you want be able to lift your arm without felling alot pain |

If you can bend all your fingers and rotate your wrist without any excruciating pain, you probly didn't break anything. But if your sure that you heard something snap, I'd get that looked at. |

My best advice is to go to the ER and get an x-ray. I did something similar, and my hand was slightly swollen, there was some numbness, and i lost alot of use. You can also gently feel the hand for any unusual bumps that were not present before. I didn't get mine x-rayed for a week and it turned out to be broken. Better to be safe then sorry. Good Luck!
A side note...if it is broken then it is still possible to move it! Also, discoloration such as it turning red, blue or purple can be a sign of a sprain or break. An X-ray is your best shot. |

Squeeze it really hard, if you're not crying by then, it's not broken. |

well if you can't move it at all and you can't touch it without having excruciating pain, then you might want to go to the er. it could very well be broken. either way, you should see a doctor soon because it could get worse. |

I broke my hand a month ago and it is sorta hard to tell. If you are even thinking you may have go to a doctor. I fell in a soccer game and went to the doctor right after, the doc said that if I hadn't had gone that quick it probably would have gotten much worse. Better safe then sorry. |

Well, if it's STILL bothering/hurting you it may be sprained. You should go to the doctor to get it checked out. Also to check if you have an injury, move the injured hand, if it hurts there may be a chance it's sprained, fractured, broken etc. |

If it's noticeably swollen, painful to move, and you have a significant decrease in function, it is probably broken.
If you are unsure, see a doctor, and get it x-rayed. If you cannot afford a doctor, get a splint, and take some anti-inflammatories (motrin, etc). Apply ice to the area for about 5-10 minutes at a time, to keep any swelling down. Try to avoid using it too much until it feels better. |

erm
when my brother broke him arm, he was like one so we didn't know. So we told him to crawl but he wouldnt use his right hand that was sore, so we like kept handing him stuff and he used his left hand.. so I'd try move it in a circular direction or try place it down on a counter top and put rpessure on it and if it really hurts go to er and get a scan :] |

because your hand is not swelling it is probably not broken or fractured it is probably just sprained. if you can move your fingers, your hand is not broken but if you cant keep reading. hold your hand and massage it where it hurts most. if you feel an abnormal movement than it is most likely broken. an abnormal movement is a movement that causes no reaction in the rest of your hand. |

Go to a doctor or try to move it a bit.If it hurts when you move the hand almost all the time it's broken. |
