What foods will help prevent coronary heart disease?

Sarjeet S. G...
Eat white meats, fruits, vegetables. Do a moderate amount of exercise.

You need to avoid the following.
1. Cigs
2. Red meats & animal fats
3. Eggs

In order to prevent, stop coronary artery disease from progressing OR even reverse it, adopt a very low fat, high fiber plant based diet with total calories from fat amounting to no more than 10% total (roughly 20 grams per day/no more than 2 grams per serving).

Remaining nutrients come from complex carbohydrates (beans, whole grains, bulgur wheat, sprouted buckwheat, oats, kashi, vegetables, fruits, whole grain pastas, lentils, peas, spinach, grits, polenta, etc) that are naturally high in fiber and low in fat (70% of total calories) and the protein (20% of total calories). The non-fat and very low fat dairy products would include egg whites, egg replacer, tofu, seitan, etc.

Foods that should be avoided (not eaten at all) include: no meats of any kind including chicken and fish; oils/oil containing products; avocados, olives, nuts and seeds; high or low-fat dairy products like whole milk, yogurt, cheese, cream, egg yolks, etc.; sugar, simple syrup, high fructose corn syrup, honey, maple syrup, molasses; white rice, white flour and the like; alcohol; any commercially available product with more than 2 grams of fat per serving.

Stress reduction and moderate daily exercise (walking) are also helpful in preventing/reducing coronary artery disease. The exercise doesn't need to be punishing or painful -- sustained moderate exertion on a regular basis is more important than a "no pain, no gain" philosophy.

Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.
You can not prevent coronary artery disease without controlling hypertension and diabetes. You should also stop smoking.

eliminating meat from your diet will be the best. Not only will you not have to deal with the meat rotting in your intestines for 3 days until it is fully metabolized, but you will prevent most of the illnesses caused by eating all types of meat such as heart disease.

all berries help and most important, exercise. and stay away from junk. maybe have it once a week as a treat.

Animal fats and products tend to make things worse,as does cigarette smoking. A diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grain and omega 3 fish oils is helpful.
