i dont know if she scratched herself or my other cat did, but their is a wound in front of her ear where there isnt alot of fur. and when she scratches her ear/head she opens it up. and its bloody and sometimes there are little pieces of scab in her fur. i keep cleaning it and i put bacitration on, but it isnt getting better. the wound is not deep, but its really gross and i dont know how to help it heal.

You may want to get a collar.
I think but am not sure...humans can use super glue and I imagine you can with the cat...You will have to thoroughly clean the heck out of it first....

The best thing to do is do what your doing. You could try buying the liquid band-aid stuff from walgreens or cvs and putting it on the cut that might help protect it better. If you can get a cone collar from petco, or pet supermarket. It goes around her neck and it will keep her from scratching her neck completely. Also trim her nails but not too short. |

Your going to have to take her to a veterinarian to get a cone around her neck.
I know my cat had the same problem. Looked kinda funny with it on though :) |

Yes she needs a vet appointment to assess the situation , clean it out and maybe put in a stitch or two. Even though it doesn't look deep, it is a germ attraction and can get infected. After the treatment, like Justin said the vet will put a cone on it...And true, it looks funny, but it's to keep her from scratching it open and more serious trouble from happening....Good luck. |
