Well my dad's whole side of the family has type 1 diabetes. Will I have it too?
Everytime I go to hug my dad, he says my body is very warm.. Then he goes on about me possibly getting diabetes and how I have to cut down on sugar..Though i really enjoy it ^_^

I tried researching it, but i didn't quite get if its genetic or not.
Answers will be greatly appreciated, and thanks if helping!

Yep. Diabetes is passed down throught the fathers genes. You'll get it sorry.

You WILL NOT get type 1 diabetes from eating sugar. Type 1 can be passed on through genetics so you should get tested. Just because your body is warm does not mean you have Type 1 diabetes. Some of the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes are: excessive thirst, excessive urination, rapid weight loss, naseua and so on... If I were you I would get tested for Type 1 Diabetes

It is always a possibility im the same except with both types just eat healthy and if you feel sick imediatly go to the doctor I HOPE YOU DONT GET IT

My thoughts are with you

Yes is genetic, My family, they all have diabetes, my little cousin had type 1 diabetes since she was five years old, that does't mean you will have it, however there more chances. Your dad is right, the better you take care, the later you will have it the better off you are. You should try to cut sugar, candy, soda, too much bread. Sometimes you don't have any syntoms, my mother found out because she fainted it. I don't want to scare you. I hope you never get it. The American Diabetes Association can send you some information. I hope this help you, also God bless you, I hope you never get it. Ga

It isn't exactly known how one contracts type 1 diabetes, it could be genetic or it could be an autoimmune response to a virus you've been exposed to. Because you have a genetic disposition to it, you really should watch your sugar consumption.

Yes diabetes can be genetic...maybe this will help you. I got this info from a booklet in my doctors office.

If a father has type one diabetes, the child has a 1 in 17 chance of developing diabetes.

A child has a 1 in 25 chance of developing diabetes if the mother has type 1 diabetes and gave birth before the age of 25. Chances are 1 in 100 if the child was born after the mother turned 25.

A child has a 1 in 7 chance of developing diabetes if the father has type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed before the age of 50. Chances are 1 in 13 if the father was diagnosed after he turned 50

If both parents have type 2 diabetes, a child has a 1 in 2 chance of developing the disease.

The child could develop type 1 or type 2 diabetes, no matter what type the parent has.

Hope this helped you some.
