How quickly can teeth shift without a retainer?

I left my retainer at school with my gym clothes. I'm fairly certain I can get it back on Monday. But can my teeth shift over the weekend to where the retainer wouldn't fit anymore? The longest I've gone without wearing my retainer so far is 12 hours -- and even then the fit was kind of tight when I did put it in. I would die if I had to get braces again because of a careless mistake.

Also, in case I CAN'T get my retainer back on Monday, how much would it cost to replace it?

I've been wearing my retainer since December, by the way.

It really only takes a couple days for the teeth to shift. There is a good chance it might be difficult to get your retainer back in. Unsure of the cost of a new one, you would have to check with your orthodontic office.

They won't shift back over the weekend. My son use to break his all the time. He had his about four years ago and the replacement then was $65. My son use to go about 4 days each time he broke or lost his till he got new ones.

Well my orthodontist said it can shift a little as quick as 3 days. That happened to me, I hadn't worn it for a few days and they shifted a bit, and they were really tight on me. I went to the ortho and they said to just wear it continually for the next couple days and it'll fit normally again, and it did work.

I've also been wearing mine since December. lol.
Isn't it a pain in the ***?
