Does it hurt getting a tooth pulled?
I have an extra tooth, by my top wisdom tooth & i keep getting food stuck between it and the extra tooth and it is hard to floss there so now i'm getting a cavity.
I want it pulled out - i have never had a filling or a tooth pulled out so im really frightened. Does getting a tooth pulled hurt?

i had to get a large molar taken out and i have very long roots.
there is no pain you get an injection of Novocaine a derivative of cocaine which works as a local anaesthetic. there is a lot of pulling and crunching but no pain.

I have had 2 teeth pulled and it doesnt hurt a bit what they do it- it just hurts a little after when you try to eat!!

Most dentists try to make it not hurt for you so dont worry! if youre really scared then just ask for numbing cream!!

No not realli as they either put you asleep if its realli bad or put numming injections in you mouth so you cant feel a thing :)

ye it hurts a bit but you get it nummbed so it should be ok
good luck!!

i have had 3 teethout

single forever
ok when you pull it ,,you wont be hurt cause they will ptu some sedation
after that they will give you something to gargle ,,you wont be able to eat for 12 hours and thats all
its better then suffering real time i think you are now
they will give you olfen or pain killer so just do it ,,it will go:)

i have never had a tooth pulled either. and my wisdom teeth on the bottom are just coming in and im 24 . but for a fillings they dont hurt at all i have had them done alot of times they just numb u up after u are dont with that and the numbing goes away u dont really feel anything at all when u get a filling done u cant eat for about an hour or so

I've had several teeth pulled, some didn't hurt at all - a couple were painful. Cavities hurt way worse than getting a tooth pulled.

i didnt get needle cos i would have given me an abcess. ohh the pain.... the tooth crumbled and each piece had to be taken out seperatly

No, the only part which hurts when you have the injection to numb it. That does hurt quite a bit to be honest.

Extractions are often categorized as "simple" or "surgical".
Simple extractions are performed on teeth that are visible in the mouth, usually under local anaesthetic, and require only the use of instruments to elevate and/or grasp the visible portion of the tooth. Typically the tooth is lifted using an elevator, and subsequently using dental forceps, rocked back and forth until the periodontal ligament has been sufficiently broken and the supporting alveolar bone has been adequately widened to make the tooth loose enough to remove.
Surgical extractions involve the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed, either because they have broken under the gum line or because they have not erupted fully. In a surgical extraction the doctor may elevate the soft tissues covering the tooth and bone and may also remove some of the overlying and/or surrounding bone tissue with a drill or osteotome. Frequently, the tooth may be split into multiple pieces to facilitate its removal.

If the dentist gives you movacane it won't hurt when it is pulled. They also mumb the area where the movacane goes in. This is from personnel experience. Make sure you brush 3 times a day and floss. Don't eat a lot of sweets.

No it doesn't hurt. They numb your gums really well and when they pull it you dont feel a thing. It aches a bit a few hours after but not loads.

it hurts getting the numbing shots, that is the worst part, after that you are numb and can't feel anything..maybe pressure..but you can get more numbing for pain. then you get pain medication, you take that before the numbing wears off and you should be comfortable. it's really sore more than anything, just take the pain meds you'll be fine. eat soft cool foods while, numb whatever YOU can tolerate after the numbing wears off.

No It Don't If Yur Getting It Done At The Dentist

They Sometimes Put You To Sleep

But It Hurts If Yu Pull It Out Yurself

NO. the worst aspect is not knowing.

It doesn't hurt. The injection isn't too nice, but it depends if you are scared of needles like me. You also hear alot of cracking whilst they are pulling it out. Sorry I couldn't sugar coat it, but you don't want me to lie to you do you?

no, the dentist numbs your gums and when he pulls it out you dont even know, plus it will stop you being a gobby b***h

It shouldn't hurt at all! The dentist will apply local anaesthetic with a fine needle to the areas around the tooth to numb it. The most you should feel is a tiny scratch (even if that) when they apply it. They will then leave you to wait for a few minutes to allow the local anaesthetic to kick in before extraction. Then when your dentist is ready to pull your tooth out, you will feel a lot of pressure as they have to break and drill into the tooth in order to pull it out. The pressure sensation won't hurt you at all, but may be quite annoying as they have to use some force. But it's just a sensation, no pain, it's honestly nothing to worry about. Even after the tooth is pulled out and the anaesthetic wears off, you shouldn't feel any pain, just a gap which will gradually heal over time. The horror stories of dentists in the old days before anaesthetic are looooong gone! And just so you know - the pain you'd get with a cavity if you don't get the tooth pulled will honestly be worse!
