I got mine at 11. You could say it was perfect timing because it happened in the summer between primary and secondary school. But when it happened i was on holiday with my family.

Great timing because i got through primary school with no period problems. Also i started secondary with regular periods.

Awful because it was on the family holiday.

BTW If this was TMI why did u read this far?

Violet Sky	I was 11 too, found them soo painful was put on the pill at 15 to help, much better now, less painful as i ve got older.

stacey!	I was around 10 or 11, I got mine in the fifth grade. Too young if you ask me!! Some of my firends didnt get it until highschool!

chicky	When I was 14 the first year was great the were light and I had hardly any pain. Then it just Changed to heavy days with rip my stomach out pains for the first 3 days. then after having a baby I was able to handle the period pains better because I had experienced contractions with no pain relief. My pain threshold got better but the period is still very heavy.

cissie s	lol - good question especially for those young girls who are going to be having their periods soon or who may be worried that they started to young or started later than normal. The average age is 11-14. I was very early starting I was 8 years old and I remember it because I was sitting in a doctors office. I wasn't very scared because I had been learning about it from a very young age and my doctor and mum were there to explain anything I wanted to know and to reassure me that starting so early was not an effect of any medical treatment I had received. My mum had told me all about it when I was 5 and always answered any questions I might have she and I started putting together a box of "sanitary" items from then on. My mum also started when she was 8 as did my grandmother. So they wanted my sisters and I to know about periods as soon as we could understand and to be prepared for when it happened.

Melissa G	i got it when i was 10 and so did my mom- i got it during late july or early august and i had relatives from overseas that summer- and everyone was congratulating me- they were all like "your a woman now!"

Zemra	I was 12. The normal age is 11-14 years. But some people get it a little earlier or later.

Sarah (the bear!)	I was about 10- Christmas of 5th grade... Most of my friends started around the same time but some didn't start until 13 or 14. Are you just curious or are you concerned?

Jolly Jo Jo	I was 10 and really embarassed, i knew what it was because my mum had told me and she wanted me to be prepared as she was only 9 when she stred hers. Most of my frieds didn't start until they wer 13/14 so I thought I was a freak for years.

Molly	I was 11 as well, just barely. I actually got it 4 days after my 11th birthday. I pretty much knew it was coming because I was having pms symptoms (though of course my mom had to explain to me that that's what they were). I went to her complaining of a backache and then got really cranky with her when she told me that was a symptom of pms, which of course further confirmed her diagnosis! Now that I think about it, it does seem kinda young.

madusa666	I was 11 too. Mine also happened in the summer holidays between leaving junior school and starting high school. My mum actually says i had one when i was about 9, i had to go and have some tests at Docs, but then another didnt appear while i was 11

brittany r	i was young, about 9 i remember clearly it was when i was in 3rd grade. i was waiting for the bus and i realized something was on my pants so i went inside to tell my mom and she explained to me :)

girly GuRl	I was just about 13...during the summer right before middle school. I was terrified....b/c I thought the day would never come. I was such a tom boy at the time...now I'm in love with pink. I'm 19 & puburty was a life saver though...I'm more feminine, I have a better shape and I went from looking like a dud' to a stud!

Angry Birdy	Why start the question with the word women? It hardly applies to men, does it?!? I was 11 too. 27 years ago. That makes me feel old. Edit: The whole 5 days? That can't be right. Surely you get a break some time?

sunshine_girl	i got my at 12...i new it was comming and was well prepared by my mum, it didnt hurt a bit,and lasted about 4 days but that didnt stop me milking the situation for about a fortnight!!

Mystery	I was 13 which was normal when I was a girl but nowdays girls get it younger.

Emma L	I got mine three days before I turned eleven! I was earlier than most of my friends, which was both good and bad.
