Um, to not get pregnant! Duh! There are lots of reasons. Some people want to get their lives together so when they are ready to have kids they are comfortable. Also, because some people are not healthy enough to have kids, so they take birth control. Some people want to be married first.

OK..... Here's what I think of Birth Control. If you are going to have sex then you need to be protected. There are many ways to do that which again is a form of birth control. Condoms and spermicide are forms for men, but they do not always work. Another B.C method for a woman could be the pill which you have to take every day at the same time, there are b.c. patches, so many others. The main reason is so a woman does not get pregnant. Another thing that the pill does for a woman is control her menstrual cycle as well as how bad the cramps are when you are on your period. Birth Control has many side effects, some are good and some are bad. Some people use it to lose weight or to gain weight. Look for some more sources. Good Luck.

If you are anything like me, I wouldn't use birth control if I didn't have to. I'm twenty and at university. If I had a baby now neither my partner nor I would be able to provide for it in a way that I would want us to. I have no money and no time to look after a child. I have to focus upon my studies in order to get to the stage where I can do this.
Both my partner and i really want children as soon as we can (I know we seem young but we have been together for years and are both very family orientated). So we are using it only as a way to give a better life to our children when we have them.
I know a lot of people use birth control simply because they don't want children, and others because they are not in stable relationships, or having one night stands.

To prevent pregnancy, to regulate periods, to ease cramping, to ease PMDD (research that too) which is a very serious condition that happens before, durring and/or after periods which can severly interfere with womens lives. It is a serious condition and is horrible to deal with. Several different birth controls can help the symptoms and make life easier because some of the symptoms can be: Depression, severe cramps, irritablility, moodyness, weight gain, dizzyness etc. the list goes on! research that. thats all of the reasons i can think of at the moment.

Because it is an extremely effective way to have sex without worrying about getting her pregnant. Sex is also a lot more enjoyable without a condom, which birth control makes easy without the possible side effect of a child.

Yes. Birth control helps prevent accidental pregnancies. It's especially good for someone unprepared to bring a child into the world and support it.
Also, hormonal birth control for females has health benefits. It's not always used mainly to prevent conception. For someone like myself, with a condition called dysmenorrhea, birth control pills drastically reduce my pain and help me lead a functional life when I'm on my period. In addition to reducing my cramps and freeing me from prescription pain killers, it's reduced pre-menstrual anxiety, depression, and irritable bowel. There's also the added benefit of reduced acne.
The use of Oral Contraceptives has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer.

there is one main reason....to prevent pregnancy...occassionally bc is perscribed for hormnal imbalances that cause painful or over heavy menistration it is controversial because some forms cause a fertilized egg to be discarded by a thickening of the uterine wall or to shed an embyro after implantation do some research it also effects your liver and can really do some other harm however uncommon

Personally I used birth control starting at age 15 (now 31) because I did not want to get pregnant as a teen because I watched my older sisters and my friends all go through it. I wanted to have my childhood and finish highschool first. I did not want to get pregnant and not be able to take care of the child. But there are other reasons people use it...such as preventing a genetic disorder being passed on to their child, to regulate periods or plain and simple they might not ever want children. I had my tubes tied after one child and yeah I get a lot of questions about why but I didn't want to be one of those who popped out babies and couldn't afford them expecting the government to take care of them. Hope I helped some.

The obvious reason for the use of birth control is to have control of ones own body and conception.
There is another reason that many women use birth control....usually in the younger women between 17 and 25 before the thought of giving life is an issue and that is to control the amount of bleeding and pain associated with menstruation.
Many young women don't realize that the use of the birth control pill is not limited to one thing. So many of us suffer with sever pain and excessive bleeding each month. One visit to your doctor to explain your problem can be simply relieved by using this pill.

To prevent pregnancy. This could be for many reasons.
1. A woman likes to sleep around.
2. A parent wants there daughter not to have a teenage pregnancy.
3. A married couple do not want to have children right away.
4. Alot of times after giving birth the Dr. well recomend birth control so the woman will not get pregnant to soon.
Another reason birth control could be used is to help regulate you periods.

To control birth.
I don't see how birth control is a controversial issue.
Birth control as in the pill, actually makes the female body thinks it is pregnant already, so doesn't produce eggs. That is in NO way killing a fetus or living thing. Of course it's right.

I dont think taking birth control makes you a "whore" (In response to the above statement). Actually I have friends who are married but they take birth control. They are still young (22/24) and not yet ready or financially stable enough to have children. They plan to wait to have children, and since they are married and arent worried about STD's they use birth control instead of condoms.

I use birth control for different reasons. One reason is that it helps with my acne, another is that i get less moody, also that i know my cramps are less painful, and that my 'flow' is lighter and shorter.
Another reason is that I know EXACTLY the date it is coming, so i can plan around my 'flow' and don't have the 'OH NO' feeling.
and finally because I want to enjoy NO condom sex with my husband of 6+yrs. WE are each others only partners, and I don't and cant used condoms (allergic to all of them)
also, i wanted to spend some time with my hubby, since he was deployed 3 times over to the middle east, i don't want the 'baby factory' open. (thats what they call army wives). Now that our 1st child is almost in school, I planned it out, we will go off BC, and have another.
It is NOT killing a baby, it is being respectful to myself and my hubby, as yrs ago, we were not financially prepared for a 2nd, and also he wasn't home for 25months, so i wasn't doing the baby thing alone!

I use birth control because my husband and I want to wait to have children until we pay off most of our debt. I was raised in a very poor household and we were always hungry. I don't want to have kids and then not be able to afford to take care of them and then depend on the government to pay for them. I also think it is a lesser evil to use birth control instead abortions. I know a couple women that use abortions like birth control. Would people rather I have a bunch of kids then live off welfare? I doubt it. It is my right to choose if and when I want children. No one else has the right to make that decision but me.
