You will get better....the advice given to place tampon in at a 45 deg angle is very good....
I used a tampon with an applicator when I was your age and this helped until I was efficient enough to do it with other tampons....
Practice makes perfect and you really will get the hang of it in no time at all!

Why don't you consult your mother about problems of this nature, she is the first person you should turn to.

hey i like your user name. haha
there is only 1 hole you can put it in.
there is a hole where your pee comes out of, you can barely even see that
then there is your vagina (where you put it)
and then there is your anus, and you will know when your putting it in there (it will hurt and when you pull it out it will feel like you are doing a poo)
and dont worry about putting it in too far. as it is too big to put it in too far.

HI, IM 29 AND SOMETIMES IT STILL HURTS ME! I FOUND THAT USING THE PLASTIC APPLICATORS INSTEAD OF THE CARDBOARD HELPS SO MUCH. THE CARDBOARD ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO INSERT SOMETIMES AND IT CAN CAUSE IRRITATION. ANOTHER IDEA IS IF IT IS A LIGHTER PERIOD, STICK TO JUST USING LIGHT DAY PADS AND USE TAMPONS FOR THE HEAVIER FLOWS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

It might help to use a mirror the first time. Find the largest hole in between the one where you pee from and your butt. Insert it at an angle twards your back. It will feel weird the first few times but that is ok, it doesn't mean you did it wrong! Unless it's painful, it is right. Also, read the box or look on the applicator, it should tell you how far to put it in.

I used to have the same problem when I was your age. Just use liners if you dont have a heavy flow. If you have a heavy flow then use pads. I couldnt get used to tampons myself at that age. It will come easy with time. Good luck

first off you dont use your finger to insert it normally. that might get a little messy. you use the applicator. stick the aplicator up there and push up on the longer tube part of it and there you go its in right =]

Go with Dona F's answer. She's one of only two responders that recommended a lubricant. My daughter had this same problem. So my wife and I figured a bit of lube might help...and mom coached her a few times. It all worked out just fine so I hear.

I am sure girlfriends are having the same issues. If your mom isn't around, definitely ask your peers for advice on this.
The easiest way is to put your foot up on the toilet if you are changing or putting in a tampon in the bathroom. That helps open "you" a bit. Insert the tampon at an angle into the hole just infront of your anus. Make sure to do it at an angle, almost like you are going towards the small of your back.
Here is a great link that might help you:

first just stick it up until it is all the way up except for the insert part and then push the inserter part all the way up until it is pushed up all the way then pull back out the inserter...i hope you understand what i am talking about and make sure you get it up far enough. it might hurt your first few times but you will get used to it after a while and it wont anymore..

Put vasaline on it. After you stick it in throw away the other part...then use your finger to push the tampon in as far as you can but still have the string hangin out. The further you get the tampon in, the less you will feel it. Don't worry, it won't get lost unless you lose the string.

The round thing inside your vagina is your cervix, its what connects your vagina to your uterus. You'll learn more about it in health class or when your older and decide to become a mommy. The applicator should slide right in. Im guessing your a virgin, so it will be a little snug and you may have to move it around to get it in the right spot. You said you get a numbing senstation, makes me think you may be allgergic to the material the tampon is made of. If thats the case you shoud refrain from wearing them.

i had the same problem,
its really not that hard.
you know the part of the tampon that has the cotton thing in it,
well stick that ill the way in your vagina.
and then push the little plungy thing in all the way,
and that will make the cotton part come out iside you,and then just pull the plungy thing out.
and thats all.
hope i could help.

I had trouble with this too - put one foot on top of the toilet so you open up and insert the tampon at an angle, kind of pointing toward your back. You'll get it.

he more you relax, the easier the insertion will be. When you are nervous, your muscles tense up, making insertion even harder. For your first time, you may want to try using a tampon when your menstrual flow is heavy; this should allow the tampon to glide in more easily. Choose the smallest size tampon for the first time. By following these simple guidelines, and those that come with your package of tampons, your first experience with tampons should be easy.
1. Sit or stand in a comfortable position. Some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, while others prefer to squat down. After you find a position that is most comfortable for you, hold the tampon with the fingers that you write with. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube. Make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body.
2. With your other hand, open the labia (the folds of skin around the vaginal opening) and position the tampon in the vaginal opening.
3. Gently push the tampon into the opening, aiming for the small of your back. Stop when your fingers touch your body and the applicator, or outer tube, is completely inside the vagina.
4. Once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube. This pushes the tampon into the vagina.
5. Once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube. Make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out.
If the tampon is inserted correctly, you should not feel it. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, you may have inserted the tampon incorrectly or the tampon may not be placed far enough into the vagina. If this happens, just remove the tampon and start again with a new tampon. Remember that practice makes perfect. If you don't get it on the first try, your second try will most likely be successful. Instead of getting frustrated and giving up, relax and try again!
A mirror is often helpful so that you can see where your vaginal opening is. Sometimes, even using a small amount of vaginal lubricant (K-Y Jelly) on the end of the tampon will help the first one glide in.

I had the same trouble when I was your age. What everybody forgets to tell you is that you need to insert it on an angle and not straight up. The angle is about 45 degrees towards your back and relax when you are putting it in it will help. Also you want to get it far enough up so it isn't uncomfortable.
Enjoy swimming tomorrow, tampons allow for so much more freedom.

there is no specific hole to a vagina, that's where it gets confusing, so you know where you pee from and where you poop from? it's in the middle and slightly towards the back as you say. Now as I say there isnt a specific "hole" as such, you need to open the area up with one hand and insert the tampon with the other, sometimes you might have to fiddle around to find where the actual opening is and if you havent broken your hymen yet there will be a specific area where there is a gap to let your period out of that will allow you to push it in. it says "aim towards your back", it just means in a basic upwards motion but at a slight angle towards your back. I was always nervous about using tampons but I found that it was much easier once I knew where everything was down there and was comfortable with it. you know it's worked when it slides in easily and you can't feel it when you stand up (or walk if you are standing already). If it is uncomfortable you may have inserted it incorrectly or not far enough in. It may take from 2 goes to 10, just depends on how nervous you are, so don't be downhearted if you don't get it the first couple of times.. If you find you are getting all tense your muscles down there will contract so hard that it won;t let anything inside, so take a break and try a bit later. if your periods are very light make sure you use a very light absorbancy tampon a) they will be easier to insert and b) be easier to take out again.
