I am sure, you also think it is a normal thing.., mere 42 age is still a too young age in Asian side. Here in our Country normally 70 years womens also get pregnant and she delivered baby without any being complication to be faced.

What a MARVELOUS thing to happen in your life. Let me adopt your baby. I'm 57 and would love to get pregnant, but I can't - never found that match. If you do, and it's a girl, name the baby Amelia.

i think if you are ready both physically and emotionaly, then by all means go for it. i think older women make better parents. they are more settled down and have the patience for it. good luck!!!!!

I think that this is ok. Just as long as you and your partner both decide on this. Just know what you are getting into. And also how this will affect your childs life. What ever you decide i think will be the right thing tho. Go with your heart!

More power to you. But personally I feel that a little to mature to be having a baby. Think about it will you still be able to take the baby to the park and play without being exhausted on a regular basis.

I think it is tough on your body, and you have less energy to give a 13 year old when you are 55 (than say someone who gets pregnant in their late 20s)!

If you really want a baby and can take good care of it, why not? Get all those extra tests though, the chance of having problems goes up as you get older.

I think I'm jealous!
Well, actually .. if it's the first baby then there's more of a risk of it being born with Down's Syndrome or other defects. If you're in the first world countries then you probably have plenty of great health care to identify those things. Also pregnancy is a helluva strain to put on a 42 year old body .. I would think it would be like having a serious illness for 9 months. Hmm .. I don't think Im so jealous after all.
If it's not her first child, then it's much less of a problem.
If you're asking from a cultural or social context then it's really no one's business but hers if she wants to be a mother at 42 or 52 or even 62. The world sticks its nose too much into everybody's business.

I got pregnant at 42, and had a beautiful, healthy baby! I chose to wait for marriage and a more stable life (I was too crazy and selfish in my 20-30's) The only thing I will say is the pregnancy is easy, it's having the energy to keep up with them as they get bigger and more energetic.

Make sure that you are very thorough with your prenatal care, and make sure before you even start that you are a good candidate. (No heart conditons, etc that would put you or the baby at risk.) I wish you the best.

My aunt got pregnant at 43 and 45 with my cousins. As long as you are healthy and aware of the risks involved, I see nothing wrong with it! Why not? 40s women typically are going to be better prepared for a child than a 20something. Your career is established, your home is established and you've outgrown the need to be out partying every weekend! Of course thats an overgeneralization, but I've found it to be true. Not to mention 40s are more laid back than 20s. Im half way there and can see myself as a far better mother than I would have been 10 years ago and can only imagine it would improve in another 10 and I pretty much thought I was the $h1t 10 years ago!! LOL
I say go for it!
