Yasmin, was the way for me I had no side effects period lasted 3 days 4 at the most no cramping no headaches nor nothing then I made the decision to have a tubal because I felt in my heart no birth control could be good for you because of all the hormones they produce it catches up with you later, I has also used int he past ortho novumm 777 to many side effects, depo shot, too many side effects, ortho Evra, to many side effects, so I did try several before I hooked yo with yasmin.

condoms...I believe taking chemicals such as the pill, the patch, the shots etc won't be good for my body.

The pill turns me into a witch, and the jelly for diaphrams causes problems. I use a VCF Vaginal Contraceptive Film. Downside you need a little planning 10 minutes before sex

I can't say I have a favorite. I hate them all because they have side effects or possible side effects, weight gain, blood clot, dizziness, diarrhea etc. I have not taken seasonale, but have heard that its cool because you only take it so often and don't have many periods. I am currently on the Yaz, and the only reason I am still on it is because I haven't met with my doctor for another option. The Yaz is okay because it lessens the period time frame and amount. I think the patch they are saying is definitely a high risk for cancer and blood clot, I would not recommend it. I think I am going to try the nuvaring next but again has big side effects like the blood clots etc esp. if you smoke- but I'm lucky I don't.

Stay away from the Depo shot....I never recovered from those.....condoms are the best way....the chemicals that those others introduce into your body is not worth it.......
The Diaphragm sometime produces scar tissue....
The sponge----Cannot be used by women allergic to nonoxyl-9
The patches produce blood clots.
Not trying to be a Negative Nancy......but they are all soooo risky.

Since having my son I am using the Meridia, a 5 year IUD. I truly love it! I can't forget anything and it's been perfect for my husband and I for almost 4 years now.
I did not have good luck with the pill, kept forgetting. I did not do well with the Deprovera shot, I went phyco. :)

I used seasonale when it first came out. I hated it.
I've been on Ortho Tricyclen and Ortho Tricyclen Lo. LOVE both of them. I prefer the Lo, because it's a lower hormone dose. But, I also liked the Ortho Tricyclen because it had acne medication in it as well. Both help with the cramping and shortened my period.
My sister uses the patch, but she gets a rash from it.
I've gone off the pill and used the condoms, the spermicide, the sponge, the film etc. But I don't like the mess. And I also hated the "Oh! wait a second honey, I got to insert something first."
Good luck!

I did Diaphragm...oye yuck
and the pill...do you know where they get the estrogene? Besides being totally gross...it is often taken with cruelty to animals...you might want to research it.
Condoms are safe, convenient, and he can be equally responsible. Plus there is the whole protecting you from STD's. Definately condoms!

I practice the safest method of all "abstinence" I will resume sex when they make a pill for the man to take. I'm tired of having to put all those harmful pills into my body. Its the mans turn.

I have taken many different kinds of "the pill". I hate trying to remember to take it everyday.
I did the patch, but I hated having it stuck to my butt, lol.
I am now on the Nuva Ring and so far it is my favorite. You put a new one in once a month. After 3 weeks you take it out and within a day or two you will have your period. I haven't had any side effects.

I HATED Depo... avoid it! It makes you gain weight like crazy, messes up you cycle (you may not have a period at all, or you may bleed for months straight), reduces your bone density, and can severely affect your moods.
I found the low dose pills to be the easiest form of the pill for me. I had the least amount of side effects, and it still worked. You have to deal with the hassles of a pill, but that is easier than kids.... It was the best choice for me before I had the IUC.
I am on the IUC mirena right now. It is my favorite by far. You have to have had a child first, so I don't know if this applies to you, though.

I take the pill - Trisphasal - can't spell it
It's really good, I have a period that last for about 5 days at the beginning of the month.
I used to take Lovoual (sp?) and i had my period for 2 months straight - no joke. I bleed for 2 months, it was horrible.

Unfortunately, my premature ovarian failure has been a pretty reliable birth control.
Let's hope now though that it continues to do such a good job of preventing pregnancy for me, since we've now adopted two babies. :-)

what ever you do, do not get the shot! It's convenient but is not worth it. It threw my whole cycle off and made sex painful. It took me another year to get back to normal. I know a women who is on the patch and she doesn't have any major problems

Well for me,I hate them all. The pill makes you gain weight and the depo for me made me have longer periods. I haven't tried the patch yet, but that would be my pick. Honestly I hate the fact that women are the ones who are suppose to do all these things to prevent getting pregnant. I think it is about time that they made something for men other than the condom.

I've been on the pill and depo which both ROYALLY screwed with my hormones and gave my migraines on top of it - uck
So...I will stick to the condom thank you - especially since you never know what guys out there have!
If I were in a monogamous relationship, I would probably go for the Diaphragm and/or the condom.

I just switched to mirena, which is an IUD. Once every five years, and the doctor just checks it on your annual. My doc says its even more reliable then the pill. I've also tried the pill (orthotricyclin and orth low dose) and I hated having to remember it. I also tried Depo which made me gain 40 lbs in a year.

I've only used the Pill. I've been on it for almost 4 years & haven't had to switch. I've been using Triphasil-28 (or Trivora which is the generic) & have had NO problems whatsoever with it. I've heard NOTHING good about the Patch. My sister is using the nuvaring & loves it. (She's had to try so many methods!) I've had friends on the Depo-Provera shot & they've raved about how well it works. I'd loooove to get on Depo but one side effect of it is weight gain. I weigh enough already (not TOO much but still) & wanna LOSE weight so that one wouldn't be a good option for me. =o(
Every form of BC works different on every female because we're all different. You can tell just by reading all the responses. One form may work for one woman but cause problems in another & so on....although I saw one who's using the same pill as me & also had a positive remark about it. The best thing to do is talk to your ob/gyn & figure out what would be the best method for you.....and yes, with some women it takes trying quite a few to see which one DOES work well for you. ;-)
