This maybe a little gross but you should just lay down for a while and let everything...um. "build up" and if you use tampons (better idea) just stand up real quick. Makes everything come out faster, makes aunt flow get the **** out of your house sooner sort of speak. 0.o;;
Kinda nasty, but try it. My cousin does that.

I use to use painkillers specifically for period pain, helped a bit, but not great. I have since had a mirena coil fitted. Best thing I ever did. Hardly any periods at all, and the odd one I do get is a walk in the park. Don't be put off by the old wives tale about them. I think he only thing is docs would rather only use them on women who have had children, before the coil I was given the pill to help. Did not too bad a job, but I would say go discuss your options with your doctor.

If your periods are regularly so painful that the painkillers you can buy over the counter don't help you should consider seeing a Chinese doctor. I have never known anything work better for sorting out period problems than acupuncture. Unfortunately going on the Pill doesn't sort the problem out, it just hides it until you come off the Pill again, but acupuncture can deal with the root cause for you.

Gentle exercise can sometimes help. Have you tried using those slow release heat patches? I know they are designed mostly for back aches, but it does the same thing as a hot water bottle and isn't as ludicrous looking when you need to get on with your daily business!

Try different painkillers.
For some reasons, some work better than others and that changes from one person to the other.
Try a painkiller specifically designed for cramps.
Also, instead of just using painkillers, which is a way for you to tell your body to just shut up when there's a problem (pain is one way for your body to talk to you), try fixing the problem at the source.
Two things work for me...one is relaxation, concentration, awareness of your body (like in yoga) so you can train your mind to ease your pain through breathing and stretching or whatever you feel like doing that makes you feel better.
The other is simply blood thinner. One of the reasons you may have cramps is that your blood is too thick and your body is having a hard time flushing it.
One blood thinner is Aspirin. Another great one is vitamins E. Take 800 I.U. of Vitamin E every day.
Hope you will feel better.

its horrible ain't it! oK this is what I do. I have a hot bath relax in it for at least 20 mins. I drink some warm milk with honey. (like I do when I have a cold!) and just have an hour of resting. Have you tried feminex there's a stronger one out now, and with one of those after my bath, I'm much better. Hope it works for you too.

they make heat things that are small enough to wear, if that doesn't work, go to the doc and they might be able to prescribe something really strong

how about some of those period pain heat pads, you just attach them to your top where the pain is, they work like a hot water bottle on the move.

sit in a bath tub full of hot water, or a hot tub...I was told sucking on peppermints kind of helps...also, orgasms can relieve the pain.
My pain was so bad I would ask my mom to shoot me. I went on birthcontrol and the pain stopped.
