dollybird ~ lively not naughty	don't go swimming during your period. i can't use these either i personally think that they are disgusting and unhygenic, i mean nature says it has to come out and sticking a plug in there to stop if can't do you much good. i also know someone who was seriously ill in hospital for weeks due to toxic shock syndrome, (which can kill). your period should only last for 3 or 4 days and it will hardly be the end of the world if all you can do on these days is paddle. is it ?? tell your mum you are not comfortable with them and enjoy your holiday !! xx Was this answer helpful to you? MoonBeamBaby	you have to be relaxed as your musles will tense and close. i find it easiest to squat (funny i know!!) on the floor knees far apart feet together it helps to have the plastic applicater, you will get the hang off it. it takes practice. and once your done your never go back to towels again!! well worth the effort!! good luck and have a nice holiday, you lucky lady!!! college gurl	You and I are the same page those instructions are no help for me either. Rule number one you must relax and use the plastic applicators smallers ones for us first timers. Someone told me that it depends on what position you are in when you insert it if you are sitting down you must lean forward slightly but if you are standing with one foot on the bed or toilet then do it toward you lower back I hope this works for you I haven't tried it standing up yet but if I figure out how to insert them I let you know. Rosh Posh	well... i had exactly the same problem. well my question to you is what is it that you can't do about it? i started with the slim ones (tampax compak lite). that was a lot easier. 1) open the wrapping (i know it's obvious but u kno...) 2) (if you need to) pull out the bottom part until it goes click. 3) put you bottoms and knickers all the way to the floor. 4) open your legs until they make a wide "v" shape. (wide as much as you can without hurting yourself and your comfortable) 5) (if your right handed) you the index and the middle finger of your left hand to keep open your vagina. 6) relax!! and gently push in the tampon until the bottom ring of the first plastic part is is resting against your vagina. 7) then... by holding the bottom ring of the first plastic part with your index finger and your thumb of your left hand... gently push the bottom plastic part in to the top plastic part and as well slide the top plastic part comes down. until you hear the sort click or your may just feel it. 8) pull both the plastic parts out along the string and viola! br♥♥ke	dont worry, you'll be fine.....i got my period when i was on vacation in FL. and i was forced to use a tampon so i could swim. you said you tried 7 times....did you stop b/c you thought it hurt?? b/c if it did...it only hurts for like 2 seconds while you put it in...(you might want to check what size you are getting...b/c you need the smalls or regular probably) make sure when you put it in though you push it in all the way....alot of girls leave some of it out and thats not good...you want to be sure that the string is out, but you still need to be sure the padding part is all the way in...so push until it doesnt hurt.... i hope it works Was this answer helpful to you? It can be hard to use a tampon if you are a virgin so it's best to start with the smallest size possible and be prepared for a little bit of pain as you stretch the hymen (a bit of tissue that partially obstructs the vagina). Secrets	I use to have the same problem until I realised that in order to practice I must use the slim ones for begginers. Tampax do them and so do Superdrugs. But also what I learnt was that vaginas aren't straight up. But they go up and the slant back so try and follow the natural curve. daftoldwoman	dont panic chick. dab some lubricant such as ky jelly on the end and it should make it easier and dont push towards your back so much, try to follow the natural shape of your body and maybe stand with one foot on the loo seat. first time i tried to use a tampon, i was in the bathroom for hours. i thought it was impossible and the more tense i got the more difficult it got. its like everything -easy when you know how. Nickynackynoo	It can be difficult at first. Make sure you start with the mini tampons with applicators and that you are really relaxed. Put on floor on the toilet seat or bath and the other on the floor, follow the instructions in the packet. If you are nervous it will be more difficult as your muscles tense up. If you find that you really can't do it then don;t force yourself. remember that if you are successful in doing it, follow the instructions and make sure you change your tampon regularly. They have a round tip unlike the cardboard which have flat tips.It should be easy to to put in,just remember to relax.I`m 16 and have used them since I was 12.Good Luck! persephane2003	ok. 1 Relax! Try not to worry about inserting the tampon right the first time. If you are tense it will make insertion harder. 2The best time to practice inserting a tampon is during the heavy part of your period. The tampon should glide inside your vagina easily without any discomfort. 3 Decide if you prefer to insert the tampon standing or sitting. If sitting is your preference, sit on the toilet. If you want to try standing, putting one foot on the bathtub helps. 4 Hold the tampon applicator in your right hand if you are right-handed, or left if left-handed. 5 Use your thumb and middle finger to hold the bottom of the larger, outer tube. 6 Point the tip of the applicator toward your vagina, facing slightly towards the back. The smaller tube should be pointed away from your body. 7 Use your other hand to open your vagina. 8 Place the tip of the applicator at the opening of your vagina. 9 Gently push the smaller end of the applicator in until it is completely inside the larger outer tube. This pushes the tampon into your vagina and out of the tube. 10 With your thumb and middle finger still on the outer tube, release the smaller tube and let the strings dangle freely. 11 Gently pull the two tubes out together. 12 Dispose of the applicator according to the manufactuer's instructions. 13 When you are ready to remove the tampon, gently pull the withdrawl strings down and forward. The used tampon may be flushed down the toilet. TIPS 1. Lubricating the rounded end of the tampon with a water-based lubricant such as K-Y Jelly can make insertion easier the first few times. Don't use petroleum jelly. 2. Always read the manufactuer's instructions throughly before using any type of tampon. 3.
