becksbear	A discharge can some time mean a infection. While some women do have some discharge some time, it would be unusual to have one all the time. Taking a douche to clean the inside of the vagina not only helps the smell, but necessary to keep vagina clean. After sex, always douche. Women should douche for sanitary reasons. infomaniac	I agree with the posters who said you need to speak to her in a loving, concerned way. Tell her that there is a strange smell there and if there is nothing that she can do to stop that smell, she must see a doctor. Do not tell her to douche. Douching disrupts the natural ph of the vagina and can actually increase her chances of having an infection. Common causes of vaginal smell can be Bacterial Vaginosis or a yeast infection. Yeast infections can be treated by over the counter medicine such as Monistat, but it is better to take a holistic approach. She's also putting herself at risk of thrush, cystitis and all sorts of nasty things by not washing down there. To be honest I think you should just tell her. Just say "I need to tell you something, and it's not very nice but I think you need to know, and I don't want to offend you, but I can smell your...private parts. All the time. just me	she probably has trich or BV--is it a musty or fishy smell? those are the #1 signs of both those, and trich usually has no other symptoms (sometimes a greyish discharge). not a yeast infection (they don't have an odor). trich is the most common std, and BV can be transmittable... perhaps you can pretend you got checked out & your doctor told you to have your partners screened for it? regardless, you probably should get screened yourself, just in case. oh, and advise her AGAINST powders and deoderant sprays, and douches with any scent (douches aren't really necessary, they can actually propell infectants further into the vagina. sitting in a bath is better), they can lead to an unbalanced pH of the vagina which can CAUSE BV, and esp yeast infections. If it isn't a yeast infection (which she would want to get help for, it burns) or a bacterial infection (medicine for that - it very well could be) it might just be her natural body creating discharge because you make her wet.
