Should I shave my pubic hair without talking to my Mom? All of my other friends do it. Why can't I?

Liz	You should definitely consult about it with your mom before you shave. I've hid stuff from my mother and it never ends up good at all. You should tell your mother why you want to shave it: tell her you don't feel comfortable in a bikini or your hair falls out a lot there and your sick it (i don't know, think of something that would really convince her). Plus by telling your mom, since our parents are full of wisdom and such, she might be helpful and tell you to wax or use hair removal lotion instead of a razor (since she's probably experienced it and knows what is good and what isn't, after all mom knows best! right?) kitty	I didnt tell my mom about me first shaving my legs or underarms so i think if you gotta a sharp razor you should be able to shave whatever you want shaved. Cheryl	its your body, and just like shaving your legs. Shaving will not do any harm to your body at all, all women should have some sort of maintenance down there. kiley	Don't feel like you have to do it just because all of your friends are doing it. Besides, unless you've actually seen them with their pants off, how do you know for sure that they are actually doing it, rather than saying that they are to fit in? It's just something to consider. But hey, if you really want to shave your pubes, then I don't think that you need to ask your mom for permission to do so. If you're old enough to shave your legs without her guidance, then you should be able to shave wherever you want, since it's a personal decision. The only reason that she would have to "freak out" about it would be because if you're shaving down there, it must be to impress someone because you're sexually active. Even if you aren't, and she ends up finding out, just explain that you were curious about it, and wanted to see for yourself how it was to shave. Tell her that you decided to keep doing it because it makes you feel cleaner, especially when you have your period (because it really does).
