DV8	Definitely wait.I know it doesn't seem like it, but teenagers aren't as smart as they think they are, and aren't as emotionally mature as they think they are. If it's love, then why rush it? It's a bridge you can't uncross, you never get your virginity back. I'm not a "wait until you're married" advocate, but at least wait until you are 17 or 18, and you have a little more perspective on life. btw: 99.9% of condom failure is user error. JOHN C	Well it depends if you are ready for a kid or not. Obviously the biggest consequence for sex is STD or having a kid. If you can handle those two then do it. I know this sounds stupid cause you are so young, but when you get older, you will wish you would have waited for the truely special someone. But, you are 15 and of course you are rolling your eyes right now but you will see. Wait, cause sex is not all fun and games when you are 15 and get knocked up or you have some kind of SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE that you can't get rid of. the_old_islander	The only reason to do it is that you really do feel ready and think the one you're wanting to do it with is the right one for you... that dosen't mean marriage, but sex is very intimate and getting to know somebody that well shouldn't be obly physical - and that takes time. The only reasons not to do it are that you don't feel ready and/or you're just not with the person you think is right. Condoms do work pretty well, but they can break, and you should have a backup - some contraceptive foam or jelly is good (and it's a pretty good lube in case you're not wet enough for comfortable sex). The combination is almost as effective as hormonal contraceptives and doesn't carry their risks. If you do have sex with this guy, take your time about it and make sure you've got privacy for the whole time. I get the impression from your question that you're a virgin... things will have to go slower for you, you might have pain or bleeding, and you're gonna have a lot to talk about both before and afterwards. Make sure you use them properly though, leave room at the tip for the stuff so that it doesn't break. Electric Dazeys	I'm not going to lecture you and tell you to wait, because I myself did not wait. So, what you can do to ensure to that you will not get pregnant is use two forms of birth control. But since you don't want to use the pill you can use a diaphram, a female condom so to speak. And make sure he puts the condom on the right way, and pulls out as soon as he climaxes. Leaving it in only increases the chances on getting pregnant, also, make sure you are wet enough down there to have sex. Wye9rlez	Well at 15 you may feel your ready for a lot of things. I'm not here to preach abstinence before marriage (half the people who say wait, loose it way before marriage) sex is a big decision, for both parties and there are a lot of physical consequence as you know and a lot of emotional ones as well. You should think this decision through a little more, or wait a year or two. Sex is way better with the right person and at 15 no one knows who that right person is, so just think about your decision before jumping right into sex. The risk of pregnancy is very likely. Condoms are 97% effective if used PROPERLY. But however if used ineffectively like they are a lot of the time, that effectiveness from proper use goes down by alot. So you school is somewhat correct in it's information. Health professionals reccomend at least two forms of birth control (i.e the pill and condoms is a popular choice). If you still decide to go through with sex research a second method of birth control and have your boyfriend practice putting on the comdom the way the directions say. Condoms are also the only protection against STI's (98%). Btw: I know you mentioned no birth control, but you never mentioned a reason. If the reason happens to be parental consent and your will not consent, you can go to places like your neighborhood sexual health clinic or Planned Parenthood and they give free subscriptions.
