just a couple of spots doesn't mean it's a full blown period (although some women do get that lucky!). and brown just means the blood is little older and it's still the normal discharge of the lining for your period.

well how old are you? If they were brown then its probably a spot, especially if you were cramping the week before. its really dark and brown when you're starting your period. If it was only a couple of spots then you probably wont start your period right away, but make sure you're prepared!

it would seem that it may be the start of your period. Talk to your mum or someone close, it may be embarrassing but everyone goes through it, you never know it may just be discharge.

It sounds like it's your period. It doesn't necessarily have to start with a lot of blood. Also, the cramps/breakout sounds like pms.

Yupp, you started your period. You may have a dark brown, almost black discharge sometimes. But you can also have really light brown, and then the red discharge. Just make sure you are prepared. Breakouts do sometimes occur just before you start your period, but they will go away soon after.

You probably started your period. It's okay! Don't worry! It's just light and dark colored usually when you first start. Whenever you first start, it's going to be really irregular, most likely.

you are spotting which means your period is arriving, yay, haha :P
if i were you i would wear light pads or tampons because the spotting/bleeding will continue to occur.
drink lots of water to help those cramps and breakouts :]

First off this answer depends on how old you are. Second it could be many things only a doctor would know but from the information that you have giving it sounds like you are about to start your period. If i were you i would make an apportment with a doctor to get checked if your periods are off.
