But just in case...Some girls don't get their period until they are 16 or even older, but that's rare. 13 or 14 is average...but I got mine at age 12, that's average, too. Taylor W	Don't be worried or scared. I understand why you may be worried or convinced that your health/sex ed. teachers were lying, but they aren't. Some girls don't get their periods until much later, and believe me, it's not something to look forward to. If you haven't gotten your period by age 16 you can talk to your doctor, but I don't think that will be the case. You will get pubic hair, there is no 'if' about it. As for shaving, there are many options. You can buy a waxing kit, shave with a razor, or whatever. Just so you are aware, you need to be careful with this because when those hairs grow back they itch like mad! Also, this may cause ingrown hairs that can hurt really bad. EliteCREW	hey trust me, everyone is DIFFERENT. nothing is wrong with you. im 100% sure. people get their periods at different times in the lives. some people get them at age 11, some at 15. and trust me, you'll regret wanting a period when you get one. its painful, and costs a lot of money for pads and tampons. o_O and for the hair, its totally normal. im a dude, and i started getting pubic hair in when i was 14. im 15 noww Was this answer helpful to you? josie	first of all your soo luckyy i got my period at 13 im almost 13 now and yah i hate it so dont be so anxious to get it! but when ever u get it its cool my aunt didnt get it til she was like 21[so lucky.] oo and btw when u need to shavee down their i would use nair... i use it its much easier and efficent then shaving. purplegirl	You are normal sweetie...not all girls have periods and pubes at 13...my sister was 16 before she got any signs of puberty and she is now married with 4 kids and has breastfed all of them. Leesha Bee	dont be worried. it will come in the next couple years. some dont get theirs till 16 but if your 16 and dont get it maybe see a doc. it might just be a hormonal problem. pubic hair will develop once your period is ready to come. a rasor or trim it with hair cutting scissors. not a big deal. hope this helped a little. Joel T	Enjoy being a kid. Don't worry about becoming sexually active. It just means you are not ready yet and there is nothing you can do. It's not a bad thing. I wish I hit Puberty later I could have thought more about school than about girls. Don't worry about it. talk to your mother about it and confide in a health teacher for advise. GURU - Gee yoU aRe yoU	Your period is based on whether you have the proper body fat yet to substain a period and child, and the level of your hormones. Girls these days get their periods so soon because of our diets. We eat high fat foods, so we get to the point of having the proper amount of body fat faster. If you don't get your period until your 15 is absolutely NORMAL. Be thankful if you don't get till you are 15 cause trust me it's not blessing. Shaving your pubic area is so irritating. It starts to ich, burn you get a rash...yea unpleasant. It's not necessary to get rid of your pubic hair. Girls wax it off for a more desirable look while in a bikini and such.
