Okay, well I know that whenever im at the beach.
There is a drugstore like right down the beach, so
I could just go walk and get some tampons. Seriously
you dont want to leak and be embarrassed, just wear
a freaking tampon. Its better in the long run..

Your best bet would be to wear a tampon. It is very unsanitary to not wear one in the water. If you don't it is going to create a mess for you to clean up. I know how you feel. My mom won't let me wear tampons. We went to the beach last week (got back yesterday) and I was worried I was going to get mine, but I didn't. Definitely wear tampons.

DO NOT WEAR A LINER IN THE WATER! all it will do is soak up the water! why wont your mom let you wear tampons. explain to her the situation and tell her your frined swear them all the time (even if they dont...) if she wont let you wear them because of toxic shock syndrome, look it up on the internet and explain to her that it extremely rare, and you can only get it if you wear a tampon for too long or if you wear the wrong absorbancy! *hope this helps*

You better wear a tampon because the blood will attract sharks!

There's no reason why you can wear a tampon. They come with instructions and as long as you are careful and don't leave it in too long then you should be fine. Just ask you mom why she won't let you, tell her you will be embarrassed if you can't go swimming. Let her know that you are going to be careful and are willing to bring pads when you aren't in the water. Reassure her that you will be careful. That may be enough to convince her.

I don't care what other people say, don't believe them. Your period WILL ABSOLUTLEY NOT STOP IN THE WATER! I know this because I thought I could get away with it and ended up with blood on my bathing suit and I looked down and saw blood. Water pressure doesn't make a difference! I could stand right next to a water jet and blood will still come out! And yes, blood does attract sharks (if you've seen tampon commercials, there's 1 with a diver and a shark and they say "unexpected leaks could attract unwanted attention") so you know what I'd do? Skip the pad and beg your mom for a tampon OR a DivaCup which are rubber cups that hold 1 oz of liquid and can be worn for up to 12 hrs. They can also be washed so you only need to by 1. They are $32. Good luck.

Hi Sweety,
We don't have a big delema here, as there r thin tampoms 4 girls starting out like r-self. As I wouldn't want u to be embarrassed at a "Beach" by blood running down r leg, shud r period get heavier & day by day, cycle by cycle it will. Besides I don't think you'll have a really good time holding just a lite day over r head so to speak... haha Plse take this wisdom, I've been there only it happened at school. This goes to show, " U can never really predict r period" So bring some pads along for r change & comfort. Have a Good Time.
LOL, diana d

thats ridiculous. you cant wear pads in water because the water will just soak it up before you get to bleed on it and then it will be useless for your period. i feel bad for you =[ i cant believe your mom wont let you use a tampon. what? is she super religious or something and thinks you will wanna masturbate with a tampon or something?! what is with people these days!? its your body and your menstrual cycle your mother cannot tell you that you cant wear tampons

hun, i dont know how old you are, but depending on age i have a few different suggestions
you need to get a tampon. im sure your friends have tampons with applicators that arent so big as your moms.
you def CANNOT wear pads or liners in the water. as for the shark thing, im not sure about that, but it would be SUPER embarrasing to lose your pad in the water and have people around you be like OMG EW. i hope it works out! sorry if i wasnt a help. but good luck.
trust me on the tampon issue i just got back from the water park 2 days ago. :)

You won't be able to wear a liner in the water. what if it falls off and you don't know about it and end up bleeding everywhere? You need to wear a tampon regardless what your mom says! Either buy one yourself or steal one of hers, either way you have to have a tampon.

I wouldn't wear a pad in the water. All it's going to do is soak up the water. Just stay away from the water if you can't wear a tampon.

i wouldn't go with the pads, use tampons...screw what your mom says, we all need to rebel against what our parents say sometimes ;). Just go to a CVS or something and pick up a pack there. If your mom finds out just say that you needed them badly...she's prob worried about you breaking you hymen

No you cant wear a pad or liner to the beach and wear a bathing suit as well. Go to the store and buy some yourself. Thats what I did, I paid for them myself. Your mom must've been in this situation before!
If you decide to buy them, go with playtex sport, they are awesome.

Look, its either tampons or NO water sports.
I've worn tampons from age 11 to now, age 34, and love them and prefer them over pads.
You CANNOT wear a pad into the water. Common sense indicates it will fill up with water before you ever get to bleed on it.
You WILL have blood running down your leg.
FYI, your period WILL NOT STOP in water, it only gets washed away by the water so it only LOOKS as though it does. Trust me, I've been menstruating for 23+ years, your period WILL still flow in water.
Don't waste a pad/pantyliner by wearing it into the water.

Honey, wear your bathing suit with a large pad, but wear a pair of BLACK shorts over your bathing suit bottoms. It is all the rage now anyway. Make sure they are long enough too, not short shorts. You will be really cute with a bathing suit top and black shorts. The least you could do is wear Navy Blue Shorts to hid anything down there. This ends all of that. No need to go in the water at all. And if you do, walk around to your ankles. If worse comes to worse and your pad ends up a little wet, so what. Who knows but you?
BTW, my mother told me never to wear tampons. I did, and ended up with a hysterectomy at 30. I think there is something to the lining of the uterus being destroyed with the flow issues.
