dont freak --- It can last anywhere from 3-14 days when you first start but around 6-8 is normal but dont freak if its shorter or longer. You should get them every month but when you first start they will be irregular you may get them twice in a month or miss amonth dont freak its normal. You change your pad depending on how heavy your flow is 3-4 times a day is normal but more often sometimes is needed when you are heavy.Buy pads for regular or heavy flow not liners and get the ones with wings to protect your undergarments. Keep yourself clean and bathed to stop yucky odours and you will be fine.Welcome to womanhood honey good luck!!!

First of all I would put on some comfy clothes maybe take some Tylenol, midol if you have any cramping. It can last anywhere from 3-10 days. Just depending on your body. The pad should be changed depending on your flow if it is a full pad than you should take it out. Just see how it goes.

There's a plethora of info. available if you search this in any search engine. Of course, it is normal to begin menstruation and nothing to freak out about. You change the pad when it is full of fluid and before it starts to leak. Menstruation lasts for varying amounts of time. When you first start it can be quite irregular, but will likely regulate over the months. Cycles are usually monthly. About a week of every month you can expect this to reoccur. You can keep track on a calendar, periods usually start every 28-31 days the last I heard. Just keep track of it, observe, learn how yours works, everyone is different. Also, this means you are now likely able to become pregnant. If you don't want to become pregnant or contract sexually transmitted diseases, you must use a condom during every sexual encounter you will have. You will benefit from really researching more about this on trusted medical websites. Also, consult a woman friend if you want to discuss furthur.
Best Wishes!

you should put a pad on
they usually last for about 3-7 days but it's different for every girl
it comes once a month, usually about every 28 days (that's from the start of one to the start of another, not from the end of one to the start of another)
you change the pad whenever it gets full, or if it's really light and the pad doesn't get full then i would say change it like every 8 hours or something (like, if it doesn't get full don't just leave the same one on for 3 days, you'll get an infection)
but you really should tell your mom/aunt/sister or even dad so that they can help you and buy you pads and stuff

First of all, don't panic! This happens to every girl and u get used to it. U normally change your pad about 3-4 times a day at the beginning of your period( first couple of days) then u tend to use less pads in a day after the heavy flow is done. It normally comes 21-28 days after the first day of the period. But every girl is different and when i first got my period i got it every 31 days, so it's normal to get it at different times because your body is adjusting to this new thing.

2. Don't worry I had it already it lasts for about 5 or 4 days (it depends it may be longer) I prefer pads, tampons feel horrible.!
3. It usually comes once a month!
4. Change the pad when it gets bloody enough...just ask your mom
5. it was nice to help you out, those other bitches that answered I DONT CARE need to get a life! Good luck!

Congratulations you have started to become a woman . Welcome to hell ! lol no joke

Don't worry try to relax its nothing to worry about . It varies with different girls and especially because you have just started your periods might be all to pot for a couple of months. When they settle down properly they usually come around every 28 days and usually last around 3-7 days..each woman is different.

Change it about every 3-4 hours. Its not dangerous to leave it on but it will start to leave off an odor occasionally so I would do it every 3-4 hours at the most. Oh and the other thing it might do if you leave it in to long and have a heavy flow is bleed through your clothing but I think you should be fine.

Don't worry your not alone its normal and every girls experiences it so don't be afriad to talk about it to people

If your mother/gaurdian/whoever signs your permission slips is around she would probably be the best person to help you deal with this...
But periods should last about 5-7 days. If it's your first period it will probably be relatively light. It happens about every 28 days. You may feel it coming. with like cramps and you may feel bloated. This is called pms. You may also feel moody.

You need to change your pad when it gets kind of full. It depends on your flow. Go to the bathroom every couple of hours to check and see if you need to change it yet. It takes awhile to get used to and leaks can happen so if it's possible to keep extra pads in your purse and an emergency pair of underwear in a small pocket of your book bag or something, it may be a good idea. You can also easily find more information on the internet. here's a link to get you started.

I dont exactly remember how long it lasted, but just try and relax.... and you can change the pad as often as you like, whenever you feel uncomfortable i guess. You are gonna get it every month.

Well stay calm for once...and you should tell your mom..or dad(if that's you only option). It usually lasts 3-10 days but varies on the person, and comes once a month. You can the pad every few hours, or when it gets pretty full. I hope this helped. =)

You should talk to your mom or some other adult or teenager you feel close to. It is supposed to last 3-10 days, and you change the pad whenever it gets full. It is overwhelming at first, but you will get used to it. Advil, a heating pad, and a hot shower do wonders for cramps too. Advil for headaches. You will be fine. If you still don't know when to change the pad, look every two hours and see how full it is. Two hours is a good bench mark. If it is too full, you should change earlier, if it is not full, then you don't need to change. Check in another hour or so. Good luck! tampax.com is a good website also, even if you don't use tampons.

It lasts about a week or less and it will come every month. You will know when you need to change your pad because blood will be there and you want to make sure it won't flow too much. When there's too much it can leak onto your pants :(

First calm down and get a pad. Undo the outside wrapping and take off the lining on the bottom. Then place the sticky part in the crotch of your underwear.

Normally they last 5-7 days. For some girls there norm is longer, sometimes shorter. Mine last about 4 with some light bleeding on the last day.

You should change the pad every 4-6 hours or when it is dirty. If you have heavy bleeding sometimes it needs to be changed every 2-3 depending on its absorbency.

You will get used to it, you won't like it, but you will get used to it.

okay... calm down! take a deep breath- i know it's scary. I'm pretty sure i cried the first time, because it was a mix of relief, scared, anger, sadness, and happiness. I was all over the place lol. Okay the first thing you want to do is get a pad, and put it on. then relax. you probably won't have cramps right away, because it's your first time and your body isn't mature enough yet. It should last anywhere from 4-7 days. If it lasts longer than 10 days, see a doctor. (just a warning!). It might be shorter since it's your first time, i'm pretty sure my first time was about 3 days.
When does it come and go away? A normal cycle would have it once every 28 days, so about once a month. Since it's your first time it takes a little bit of time to make it consistent. You might not get it for a few months, and then you'll get it again, or you'll get them close together. After about 3 years, it will be regular, and you'll be able to time it so you know exactly when it's coming.
How often do I change the pad?
If my flow is heavy (if more blood is coming out) then I change the pad every time i go to the bathroom. If it's light, then i change it every other time. it's about once every 1-3 hours. You want to keep changing pretty consistentley (except when you're sleeping it's okay to keep the same one on) to keep everything clean and fresh.
Buy pads in different sizes, like ones with extra absorbency for heavier days, and lighter ones for lighter days. I use always brand Nighttime pads, because they're longer, they cover a lot more room, which makes you feel safer about leaking. Change your pad, take a nap, and drink plenty of water: that always makes me feel better.
YOu also said your mom isn't around. Do you have a female relative or a close female family friend (not a teenager- an adult) and ask her if you have any questions. Be happy! You're a woman, you can give life. congrats, good luck!

also midol works wonders!

First get some tampons or pads, that would help lol!
Secondly they can last between 4 - 7 days.
Change the pad / tampon at least 3 times a day or when you feel it needs to be. Welcome to full womanhood!

im sorry about why ur mom isnt there...find someone that you can tell or go to the store and ask for some pads. buy the size you think you need. [[like heavy light or average]] or just stick with heavy to be safe. it last 2-10 days. most likely since its ur first thats all. you may spot a little which is where you get little pink/brown dots and all. use a pantyliner to prevent from staining ur undies. in the summer use tampons! change the pad whenever it feels "full"

congrats!

it usually last for a 5 to 7 days. You should expect it to happen every month, 28 to 30 days from the day you started. Change your pad as often as you feel comfortable, just make sure you do not wait too long then you will "leak" and then you could have an embarrasing situation.

You can either get tampons or pads, regular is the best size since you said you just started. It usually lasts from 4-7 days, around every month. youll know when it comes b/c u get tummy aches like right before it. I would change the pad every couple of hours, your first couple tiems its heavy, but it gets lighter later on. good luck!

have you not learned about it hun?! lasts from 2-7 days. it's different for everyone. change your pad about every 4 hours, if you're light, you can use a pantyliner. later on, you can start using a tampon, if youwish. don't start though right away. and if you have cramps, make sure to take Advil/Tylenol/Motrin/Aleve. but midol works the best!

good luck hun! every goes through ittt, not matter how much the pain is. yay! you're growinnn up!=]

ok dear, this is something you should make sure you talk to your parents about. Im not gonna say ask your mom you rtard cause maybe you dont have a mom. but its easy info to find. dont freak out. It varies on person to person. It can last from 3 days to a week. if i lasts longer at first dont freak out your still getting regulated. it should come once a month and after a couple rounds of having your period youll start to regulate and mark on your calendar when it will be coming and going. And as far as how often to change your pad. well if its heavy bleeding you may have to change it quite often. dont ever keep the same pad on for too long even if it looks somewhat clean. it can cause infections your not gonna want. when it starts to look quite used up change it out. :) hope this helps, you can also find more info on this easily on any search engine and books upon books in libraries. good luck and dont stress, its all natural.
