this is normal. i've had this happen too. =( the cramps are a pain in the a$$. you can take tylanol or ibprofen to help them hurt less and basically just wait it out. =/ its not much of a solution, but your next period shouldn't be as bad..also, exercise helps losen your muscles and make it easier (i chose to bike ride). also, you may want to start taking daily vitamans (totally spelled that wrong!) when its that strong, your body needs more calsium and iron.

Seems pretty normal to me.
Try camomille tea for cramps too, seems to help.
Or an Advil, if you don't have time to go the natural route.
Try to stay off caffeine and sugar too, as it can make cramps worse.

relax. this happened to me alot when i was in highschool. take 2 Tylenol extra strenght, or midol, or Advil, and the pain will be over in about 30 mins. also, u can avoid cramps by taking primrose oil tablets, which u can find on a local drugstore vitamin shelf. also, avoid eating foods that could easily cause constipation, before and during your period, plus eat lots of fibre, aka fruits/veggies. and your flow is normal, especially if this is your first period. oi, same exact thing happened to me on my first. i though i was going to die from blood loss.

It's normal for the second and third days to have a heavier flow, and it sounds like you need to use super or super plus tampons & pads for your period. It's completely normal to have a heavy flow, and cramping's also normal. If it's really bothering you, you might consider taking birth control pills. BC pills lessen your flow and reduce cramping.
If you're against BC pills, you could always just take Midol or regular ibuprophen and change your super-plus tampons more frequently.

The flow on the second day is always very much heavier than the first. So this is quite normal and as you already know, it is good to relax and get plenty of rest. Also remember to eat properly.

If the bleeding doesn't slow down in the next couple of hours, I would call your GYN.
Periods aren't always the same... take some ibprophen to help w/ the cramps and get some sleep-- cramps are usually worse the first couple of days & they slack off (same thing w/ the amount of bleeding)...

well the first day will always be very light, but as your period goes on you are likely to have your flow increase. If it's really concerning you I would talk to you mom about it, but it's probably no big deal.

well i can give you tips... dont eat cold food during your period. that makes the cramps worse. if your cramps are bad, drink more water and get some medication for it... you can find it at your local drugstore

You're fine! Don't panic. We have some days where it seems normal and others it's like "Whoa... Where's the spare pad?!" lol Don't freak because your body doesn't need the extra stress. Now if this occurs over a number of days, out of your norm cycle, then maybe see a doc about it. But stay cool, girl!

I think what you need to do is take a few deep breaths and calm yourself down. Then say something to your parents and get some professional help. Just off the top of my head I think you might be normal. Blessings.

I would not worry, it's very normal for periods to be erratic. You may try using a pad rather than a tampon, it may give you some pain relief. Best medicine is Tylenol or Aspirin, and lots of hot tea. A heating pad or hot water bottle on your back and stomach will help also. Feel better soon!

It's normal. Get some painkillers, a hot water bottle or cold compress (see which works better for you, cramps can be caused by different things: cold works on one, hot on the other), and lie down when you get the cramps. Try a tampon with a stronger absorbancy, too.

I don't know your age. However, if you first started to have your periods. Its normal for it to be heavy one day and less flow the next or vice versas. It takes some time for a girl to know whats considered "normal" for her cycle after she has her very first one. If the heavy bleeding and or cramping continues, consult a guardian or a physician depending on your age. If you just started your menstrual cycle for the very first time, it will take several months, for you body to adapt and for you to understand, what is normal for you.

yes it is normal! the same thing happened to me when i started. to keep the cramps minimal take some medication such as Advil. also put a hot compress on your stomach to help with the cramps. you should drink nice natural drinks and nothing with caffine in it. caffine slows down blood flow which make you have worse cramps.i have been through when you are going through now. i know how you feel and i learned a few things along the way. also if these bad cramps start next month go to your doctor and he can help you by giving you medications. believe he wont tell you that your a woman live it he will help!
hope i helped! if you need anymore info just e mail me if you can!

Trying to do the right thing

Yes, I have had that happen many times. It usually happens to me if I lay around a lot the first day, then get active the next day. My theory is the laying around slows the flow, but being active gets it moving.
The first time it happened to me, I called my doctor and he sent me to the hospital, but it turned out to be no big deal.
There are warning signs of a too heavy period however:
If you continue to completely fill a tampon or pad every hour for more than three or four hours.
If you start getting physically cold or dizzy.
Both of these can be signs that something is wrong, but to be honest, that is rare.
Older women heading towards menopause are far more likely to have serious heavy bleeding problems. I'm sure you are fine.
If your flow is extra heavy, it is recommended that you avoid heating pads and hot showers because heat helps thin blood. You can avoid heat and just rest. Watch a good movie and be lazy for a while!

My mother went though something like this about 3 months ago. She was going though a super tampon every 20-30 minutes. After 2 days of it and it not slowing down she went into the hospital and they honestly did not know how to help. She saw her primary care physician the next day and she was alright but they decided to do an operation on her in November. They used some type of electrical current to seal the walls of her vagina and she hasn't had a period since. The only other option they gave her was a hysterectomy so she was very fortunate the procedure took. My suggestion is wait it out over night and if it doesn't slow down go to the hospital. In some instances, please don't freak out and start worrying about it now, but sometimes there are cysts or tumors that cause excess bleeding so it's very important you get checked out. Likely, it's stress... You could just be stressed out and this is your bodys way of dealing with it. But either way go get checked to be sure. I wish you much luck!
