yes, it's a scientific phenomenon. it's quite proven that pheromones from women around you can cause you to all ovulate at the same time, so you all get your periods at the same time. this happens to me and my friends quite often.

yes when my sister and i were younger we had ours around the same time then we moved apart and we weren't the same....we started room-mating together and we are exactly one week apart now....at work i work with mostly women and we started being around the same time...my male boss hates it....
oh sorry have to comment on the full moon thing.....
that's because the earths gravitational pull is greater on a full moon.... that is also why more women go into labor on a full moon

crazy as it may sound, this is true. In settings like a college dorm, women will find that their cycles start to become the same. I think this is because women have certain pheromones (chemical signals) that they secrete during certain points in the cycle. Apparently, these chemicals influence other females to "sync"

in my psychology class during college, a teacher of mine mentioned something like this. If you and your friends' frequency of proximity is very high-like being together everyday- it can also eventually influence your cycle... but i was not able to ask him for a detailed findings or a known conducted study

Yeah its pheromones. It's from smelling each others hormones for so long. There's not really an explanation as to why this effects the girls' cycles but studies have been done that its attributed to pheromones.

As far as I know, yes. I read it in a magazine years ago--something about hormones being emitted through the air...

Funny some of you mention the moon. In the native american community that is what a period is called...a moon. It was also believed that women on their moon could not be close to men or food....I guess because of the amazement or mysticism of a woman bleeding for several days and not dying.
Back to the question, yes it is true and I have experienced it many times during my life before menopause.

I believe the name of the effect is "vanderbrand effect"....or "willerbrand effect"
Shoot its been a long time since I studied that sort of thing....
But it is real....had to study it in physiological psyche....or was it evolutionary.....hmmmm. It was some class....
Be well - peace
Another strange factoid....25% of the women on the planet are having thier period at the time of the full moon.....freaky hunh?

I have never heard of this theory, however, when I used to live at home with my parents I noticed that as soon as my mom's cycles would be ending then mine would be starting and vise versa. And it's still weird though because I don't live with them any more and this still keeps happening like this. I see my mom everyday still but I have my own house now And I had to go on birthcontrol for hormone replacement due to the fact I became irregular before I graduated high school due to all the stress I was under at that time and I still have to be on it even to this day because of that and that was about 4 years ago and our cycles still seem to coincide like this but I wouldn't know if its like that with any of my friends because that's just something that seems to never come up when we get to visit each other what little we do since our lives are so hecktecly busy and all. But I wouldn't believe that theory to have any truth to it. Just because men also give off a pheromone too and when us women happen to be around a group of guys; we don't start acting like them or our body doesn't start doing the things a man's body does so it would only make since to me to consider the theory a myth and not believe anything like that until I actually dug deep into researching the topic and see the results of my research.

Definatly yes. It has to do with somehting called pheromones and when you live or go to work or school with a bunch of girl all your periods will chage till they match with the cycle of the girl with the strongest pheromones. It defiantly happens I go to an all girls school and my whole english class cycled together.
