Don't play around with this. Something is not right, but there could be more to what is going on. Doctors don't treat the problem from the inside, such as the whole body. If I would have listened to a doctor I would not have a prostate today.
Get it fixed.

Yea, your doctor is obviously on crack. That isn't normal, unless there are the on and off breaks each month, then it's just an exaggeration =(

THIS IS NOT NORMAL; FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. A friend of mine bled for over a year; she had fibroids. Whatever the reason, you need to have this checked out more sooner than later; if you're constantly bleeding, you're in danger of becoming anemic. I can tell you from experience, being anemic is no joke. Until you get an appointment, go and get some pre-Natal vitamins to up your iron, and make sure to eat iron rich foods like spinach and liver (I know it's yucky).
Take care.

Ask your doctor to put you on birth control to regulate your period, if you are on birth control, change it. If he will not, get a new doctor. If you don't want to get on birth control due to wanting to conceive a child now, then deal with the irregular bleeding until that happens. If your bleeding off and on, it will not stop your chances of getting pregnant, it will just be a little harder.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse, your Doctor needs to retire. You could have fibroids.Bleeding is caused by the lining of the womb being expelled during a normal period, in your case something
else is causing it,it sounds like an open sore that won't heal. If you don't do something soon you will become anemic but please don't panic, this will make it worse. Change your doctor FAST and ask to be refered to a gynecologist. In fact you can go to your local hospital's out patients dept and see a doctor there. DO SOMETHING, the longer you leave it the more serious it will become.Have you thought of cervical cancer. You have a right to be scared but you shouldn't have left it so long.

I would get a second opinion. What kind of doctor did you see? Are you overweight? Have you always had irregular periods? Are you anemic? Do you by any chance have Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome (POS)? Find a gynecologist that will run some tests and get you straightened out. Sometimes a birth control pill will help. FIND A GOOD DOCTOR! And do not quit until you do.

Geez, no.
Spotting between periods can be perfectly normal. But if you are actually having a flow like a real period, you have to get to a doctor. Most of the things that can cause prolonged bleeding can be fixed pretty easily (if not necessarily comfortably), but some are very serious. Only a doctor can tell you what you need to do.
BTW, in addition to the problems that the bleeding might indicate, the loss of blood can result in anemia (low iron). You should definitely get an iron test at the same time.
Good luck, and don't wait any longer.

Try another doctor. NOT normal. Reminds me, though, of the woman who had the issue of blood for 18 years. . .went through all her life savings, all the doctors and treatments in the area, only to leave her still flowing and broke. She finally fought her way through a crowd and touched the hem of the garment of the man from Galilee, Jesus, and was healed completely in that one instant. Maybe instead of trying everyone before trying God, you might think about asking the One who created you to fix it!

That doctor didn't know what he was talking about! Of course it's not normal to bleed that often! I don't think you should be immediately concerned for your safety, but you're right to be thinking about long-term effects of having a too-frequent period. Find a new doctor, one who is an OB/GYN or go to Planned Parenthood. You definitely need to speak to someone about your history and have someone check your hormone levels and give you a Pap smear. Just don't wait any longer!

um that is definitely not normal... you may have a serious medical condition, like endometriosis, polycystic ovaries, or a tumor or fibroids in your uterus (i know someone who had really long, really heavy periods because of that). maybe you should get a second opinion, and i would use some form of birth control just in case until you find out what is going on. my sister had her period for like a month and her doctor gave her an ultrasound to see what was going on in there. but i would definitely call your doctor asap.

I agree with everyone else, that is not normal. Are you getting enough iron? If you're bleeding that much, you might be losing a lot of iron. Please see a new gynecologist who will take your concerns seriously

Find a good legitimate doctor this time. Do it right away, a period lasting that long can NOT be good. Your iron levels are probably pretty low as a result too. You didn't say which state you are in, there are several good doctors at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas as well as in Plano, Garland, Frisco and Ft. Worth Texas. I'm sure others can recommend cities near you that have good doctors too. I wish you the best.

Definetly not normal. See a different doctor, even four months off and on is not normal. The longer you wait to find out what the issue is the more damage you may cause your body. I had bleeding off and on for a year and it was caused by fibroid tumors..... get it taken care of immediately.

This is a serious thing. You should consider a second opinion and a new doctor. It's not normal. It could even be a tumor. Don't just brush it aside. This is your health we are talking about.
