No two women have exactly the same experience in childbirth. How can you judge the pain of one person against another. I heard of a women who turned up for pre-Natal classes to be told she was in labour. Generally speaking it is almost certainly going to be painful but once you're pregnant you have not got much choice have you? It has to come out and that's that.

As far as I'm concerned we definitely do not over play the pain we are in. It was the worst pain i ever went through in my life at one point after being in labour for about 32 hours i remember thinking i wanted to die but you know what i still think we are the lucky ones because we get to carry the babies . it was the happiest time in my life when i was pregnant

Childbirth is different for everybody. In my opinion it is very painful. It would be like having to fit a watermelon inside a coke bottle. (and it has to go in) then, COME OUT :)

I doubt if there is any truth to the article. There is not enough sympathy and pity in the world that could make me go through childbirth for those reasons.
Better yet,ask any man who had to hold a woman's hand during delivery, if she was overplaying the intensity of the pain?

Ive got two brilliant children, first birth I thought women do this every day, it cant be that bad, had no drugs and thought I was going to die, never felt pain like it in all my life. Second birth I took pethidine and although again it was extremely painful it wasn't anywhere near as bad. It varies so much for different women, my mother said it didn't hurt at all!!?? Some people have a very difficult time some don't. Practically though if you consider the physical process obviously its going to hurt a bit. As for pamering, its an extremly vunerable and quite frightening time, it should be a positive experience and women should have as much care and attention as possible in order to make it as pain free as it can be.

It's like when you feel you're at the very peak of your most extreme pain and you can't take any more, the pain suddenly rockets out the roof, you can't hold your body together because you want to climb the walls!!! Imagine bursting from front to back with a big gaping explosion between your legs! I couldn't sit for 9days!!!

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say child birth is probably about a 15. I have two wonderful girls. The first one (now 21) I had without drugs, just gas and air (joking ain't they) My second daughter (now 11) I was going to have a peaceful pool birth with soft light and music. What ever!!!! as soon as she was really on her way, with one of her shoulders pressing into my bowel the epidural was booked and that was that. Much better way (for me at least)
For men to experience the equivalent pain barrier it is said they need to try passing a pea sized kidney stone. PEA sizes!!!!!!! try a tennis ball mate, then lets talk pain management!!!

ARE YOU F****ing kidding?
Only a jackass would ask if pushing a 7-10 pounder out would hurt. And believe it or not the contractions hurt worst than that. Then you have to live with all the stretch marks and saggy boobs that come with that!
Just imagine a watermelon seperating your pelvic bones and then push a grapefruit out your peehole.

Yes childbirth is painfull but it varies in diffrent women some women have a very high pain barrier and others dont its all to do with your muscles and your contractions if you imagine having no control over your pain and not being able to stop it even after the baby comes out you still have the pain of the after birth and the shooting pains for the next couple of days so yes it does hurt that's why the women have the baby's men are no good with pain :-) lol

Childbirth is very, very painful. But after you see your precious little baby, you forget all about the pain you just went through. The article you read was probably from a man or a women who never experienced childbirth before. Believe me it is the most pain you will ever experience in your life. If you don't believe me go to your local birth center and you could here these women screaming down the hall. Just imagine a watermelon coming out of your penis. Ouch...................

Believe me women certainly do no overplay the pain of childbirth. I know I have 3 children and every time it was really painful, The pain is like nothing you have experienced before. If you are fortunate enough to have the right pain relief at the time, then that's great.
It's really funny because every time after I had given birth I said never again. But then when its over you have this most precious little baby and you just want another one and another one and another one. That's why I had 3. They are an absolute joy. There is nothing else like it.

It is the WORST pain I have ever gone through. I can only describe it as it feeling like someone is ripping your insides out. Have you ever had a charlie horse in your leg? Multiply THAT pain x50, imagine that multiplied pain in your pelvis, your pelvic bones being spread apart at the same time and you might get a fraction of an idea of what childbirth feels like.

As you haven't got the ' equipment ' to enable you to give birth you can't begin to imagine how excruciatingly painful it can be. But, imagine this, its the only way to explain it to you, you have a medium sized watermelon in your lower stomach, now imagine that coming out of your bum, very, very slowly! it may take a few hours to come out or it may take over a day! Now go and wipe your eyes and have all the sympathy in the world for pregnant women ha ha.

For some women it is very very very painful as the contractions are god awful but for others it isn't quite so bad. It all depends on the woman and even that can vary with each birth she has.

oh ya- not much like it !!!! it is a shame men can not experience this so they could understand their wives better - they should feel exactly what a woman has to go through in order to understand it thoroughly. It's REALLY tough but it goes straight once the bundle is out. Trust me, Dave it's agony - I think the only thing that keeps us alive that particular time is the fact that u know why u r having that pain and also u can't wait to see the little treasure come out to see it's all in good order and also u want to see that little face that's been rumbling inside you for 9 months . Once that's that it's all nearly forgotten and u r ready for the next one ! ha - no way- just kidding- it is a trauma to only talk about the labour for about 1 month after that. we put ourselves through quite a lot , but we don't actually know it until we've actually been through it.
