You're 13 so your body is going through changes as it is. I think there are women without PCOS that have strands of hair on their nipples and/or acne - try not to stress over it too badly. If you have excessive body hair or other symptoms of PCOS and are truly worried, ask your parent if they can take you to the gynecologist. They can test you to see what your hormone levels are and all that... and verify or rule out you having PCOS. Good luck!

Many other things can cause acne, body hair and small size. You are old enough to ask your mom if she thinks you should see a gynecologist. Don't start looking at websites and trying to diagnose yourself, or you will start to imagine you have all kinds of different diseases. Doctors go to school for 10 years to learn to diagnose symptoms, you shouldn't do it yourself.

Only your doctor can diagnose you with PCOS. Acne is only a symptom of PCOS but acne as I'm sure you know is also a symptom of adolescence.
To have an accurate diagnosis of PCOS, your doctor needs to preform blood work and an ultrasound. The ultrasound is done to look for ovarian cysts.
Since you have no wait gain, which is one of the major indicators of PCOS, I would venture to guess that you are PCOS free. If you are really concerned, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor. Only a doctor can tell you if you have PCOS.

I strongly doubt that you have it. Theres plenty of girls who have nipple hair and acne on breasts (me, for example). Its normal to learn about illness and think you have it. (med students do it a LOT) If you are still worried then ask your doctor on your next checkup. No need to rush to the doctor, unless you get alarming symptoms.

I could tell you to go online and research this, but I'm NOT. Because you are so young, I want you to reach out to you mom, aunt, grandmother or some older female in your family that you love. If this is not possible, then I want you to talk to a family friend or a neighbor. This is important for you to figure out what is going on with your body. I remember when I first got my period and had things going on, I thought none of it was normal. I was so scared inside and I wasn't willing to tell anyone. I finally did tell a friend in school, and she told me that what I was experiencing was completely normal and she giggled at me. For a second, I felt like an idiot, but then, I was so happy to find out what was happening to me. I know this is all pretty scary for you right now. Please go find that person you trust and have them bring you to the doctor for tests.
Also, know this. When I was 13 I had all the same things as you, weighed the same, ate like a horse and never gained a pound, and my periods were inconsistant, too. So, this may be nothing! Whatever it is, please have it checked so that if it is PCOS, you have what you need. If it is just good old puberty, well, then, I share my giggle with you!
Best wishes!!

Embarrassing as it is, talk to your mom and doctor about it. Really, there are a bunch of bone heads on here that don't know what they're talking about, so it would be better to talk to a professional about this. Your mom won't freak out; she'll still love you the same. I'm 13, too, and thankfully, I don't have that problem. Good luck! =]

Talk to your mom or a trusted adult and go to a doctor- don't wait because you don't want something to develop and get worse. If you're missing your period it isn't that strange since probably if you're 13 you just got it not too long ago? (I could be wrong) but your cycle won't be regular if you just got it.

talk to your doctor or parent about this. i really wouldn't trust people on yahoo answers to give you sound medical advice, because you may think they are helping, but you could just hurt yourself even more. if you are that worried, you should definitely talk to a doctor right away, but my guess is that you don't have PCOS.

PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome. That affects your Ovaries, fertility and periods. You're 13, your periods aren't regular yet. Hair around the nipples is hereditary (your mom probably has that too). You should focus on maintaining a healthy weight though because 85 lbs is a good weight for a small child. Depending on your height, it might be considered underweight.
Don't diagnose yourself based upon what you saw on the t.v. That was one person's case, and not yours. See a doctor/ nutritionist!

This is something you need to ask your mother and doctor, sweetie. Seriously, it's better to listen to a professional than people on the net that don't know what they're talking about.
Don't be embarrassed to talk about it, though. If you're worried about your health, then it's better to get through the blushing rather than spending weeks in the emergency room.
Be careful and don't waste your worries with something you see on TV or what people tell you. I remember when I was your age and I had a headache that lasted an entire week and I was SOOOO scared that I had a brain tumor because of what I read on the internet and saw on TV. I talked to my dad about it, and eventually it went away. Anxiety always makes you feel worse, making you more certain of your false illness.

Hey honey,
I had the same thing at your age. I had my first period when I was 13 and never had another one until I was 14—now I am 23 and I am still irregular. I have fast hair growth, super-sweaty arm pits and so on… I would not assume it as PCOS. I was told that was what I had when I was 16 and now I am 23—my doctor said it was not PCOS. I refused the hormones and all that because they add a lot of weight and have future risk with taking them. The best thing you can do is talk to your mother or guardian about your concern and talk to your doctor. You do not have to say anything personal—just tell the doctor your periods are not regular and you have more hair then normal.
The problem is hormones, so I would recommend taking an oral birth control pill. I know your probably not going to need it, but it will make your periods regular and your hormones will be more balanced. It also may help you gain about five pounds.
