Actually she is the correct weight. She is fine. Young people males and females have much less muscle mass then say a 30 or 40 year old. In fact the most muscle mass capability for humans is around 40-50 years old. They are also stronger. This is why adults are bigger then teenagers. They also tend to have more fat but the ratio of fat to muscle mass is the deciding factor. In fact many fat people have a lot of muscle from carrying that weight around. Try carrying a 40 pound bag all day; now try for a year. You would gain a lot of muscle in your legs and in your arms. When they loose the fat they are easily turned into large hulk like people. They get huge muscles and have to do a lot of light lifting and cardio-vascular exercise. Because they have muscle already.
Most women have between 14 and 25% body fat if they are healthy. If the body fat drops to 10 % they stop menstruating. A person can be skinny and have a poor fat to muscle ratio because they do no weight bearing exercise and their diet might be lacking food or abundant in alcohol and cigarettes. I knew some guys who lived on cases of Bud and smoked and weighed 90 pounds at almost 6 foot. Their probably dead by now. They had no muscle at all. When you weight train you gain weight and loose fat because muscle weighs more than fat. But you look better and feel better.
Your friend is the exact correct weight for her height and age. leave her alone.

To me that's average im 5ft exactly & weigh 98lbs so 2 -3 lbs per inch roughly that and the norm weight would be 105-115.. She prob could use some extra meat on her though-i mean guys like curves...
you must be concerned about your own weight-if you find her too skinny...like most females- they think anybdy who is petite is too tiny...

heck yes she is skinny. I think you should talk to her. If she is a really good friend she will not get too upset. Find out if it is a hereditary thing or she just has a fear of getting fat. The average 5'3" 16 year old female should weigh in at at least 117.

Yes, ask her if she has been losing weight, if she says she has, ask her if there is a problem anywhere, and if you can help. I have a diploma in colour therapy, eating blue food will help put on weight, whereas yellow foods aid in losing weight. Good luck.

NO. If she is dieting, tell her she doesn't need to, but as a "skinny" person who had to deal with comments my entire life - it gets old and makes a person angry when they hear "You are so thin - you look sick" "Why are you so skinny?" For G*d's sake, we don't go around asking people why they are so fat or how sick they look. I didn't gain weight - NO MATTER WHAT until my 40's and then not enough to put me out of a size 4. Your friend might be the same way. So as long as she seems healthy and happy, keep your thoughts about it to yourself, she'll appreciate you for it.

I wouldnt say too skinny....yet. She is without a doubt thin. I would keep an eye on some of the things she does while your out dining. Its very possible she is naturally thin. If you want to say something, just say something, she is your friend and should understand that your just being concerned.

No. When I was 5'3 I weighed about 110 and I'm very healthy. 4 pounds off isn't bad. If she was 5'3 and weighed 70 pounds or something like that. I would worry but no you've got nothing to worry about.

Have you noticed her eating habits? Does she eat? If she does eat, then you can mention it to her. But if you've notices that she does not really eat or that she may be throwing up, then you should go to her as a concerned friend. And make sure that you you don't come off as rude. Make sure she knows that you're concerned and want to help.

I would pay more attention to her attitudes about her eating habits and her body. While she is pretty skinny, that may just be her. However, if she thinks she is fat, diets etc that is probably a sign that she may need some help to get the right perspective on food/herself.
