Caper	I went to a women's health web-site and pulled this up in about 3 seconds. You need to learn to investigate things better. If you can ask a question on Yahoo, you can find out what the web says about it in women's health areas. Not that the web is infallible, but it's better than asking strangers. nyuchick	wow, thats kinda weird... i'm 17 and i don't want to use tampons....i'm scared but I think you should talk to your mom about it because you might have some questions.... you shouldn't always trust the internet even though its weird talking to parents about these things but once you do, just learn how to joke about it and it will become more comfortable...you do have 5 more years at home... fungirltohavearound	It's your period and if you want tampons you should be able to use them. They are comfortable and you barely even know they are there. If you can't get out to buy them yourself and after talking to your mom she says no....then go to your school nurse and she will be able to hook you up. aimz	buying tampons doesnt mean ur having sex!!! tampons can hurt to begin with if not inserted properly u do have to get use to them, but they are much better and more comfortable in time... tell ur mum u have just become a woman, and if she has a problem with buying u tampons then what the hell is her problem, i hate pads... and u can still swim if u wear a tampon just remember to change it!!!! The argument against pads is that they promote odors and others can smell the odor.. haven't your friends said so? Tampons are made so they won't damage the hymen, they eliminate odors because fluids aren't exposed to air, and they allow you to wear trousers with confidence. econ476	I know how you feel. When I started my period I wanted to use tampons too. My sister and I were both virgins so they hurt and I wasn't able to use them until years later. Try different pads to see which one feels most comfortable. Nowadays there are so many kinds and they are all pretty thin. If you want to try tampons Tampaz makes lite or junior version and they're smaller and easier to insert! And talk to your mom! You're not doing anything "wrong" by wanting to use tampons! Jess	Tampons aren't sex. They're just a more comfortable way to go about your period. Just tell her you're thinking about using them, let her know how uncomforable the pads make you feel...there's no reason she should say no. If worst comes to worst and she does say no, and you feel utterly horrible with the pads, try buying them yourself. It's your mom, if you can't talk to her, who can you talk to? daisy	lol you CAN buy tampons all by yourself. No age limit. In the box you will find explicit directions on how to use them. Practice. If it isn't comfortable remove it and use another one. BTW the thin pads with the adhesive wings fit better than regular pads. For pads OR tampons get the "slim" size. Too bad you can't talk to your mom about it........my mom wasn't so uncomfortable discussing all of that with me as I was too uncomfortable to let her know what was going on....at 11! 6js59	I don't think there is an age limit when it comes to buying tampons, and you also do not need your mom's approval to do it either. patticharron	What is your question? You CAN buy tampons. Depending on your size, you might purchase the junior size for smaller people. Inside the box are detailed instructions on how to use them, how to insert them, etc. It's unfortunate that your mom hasn't spoken to you about this stuff. Tampons are safe and far more comfortable than sanitary napkins. You'll probably have to practice inserting a tampon a few times to get it right. When it is in the correct position, you won't feel it. That's how you'll know you did it right. When the time is right, you might want to engage your mom in a conversation about all this stuff. Heather	Why don't you try using a different brand of pad. The best kind in my opinion is always because they have a core that pulls in the moisture so it always feels dry. charc72042's.a.good.cooker	You can buy them yourself. As far as your age goes. Just ask your mom for the money and you go get them yourself. But you need to ask other girls your age what kind they are using. Don't just go in there and blindly buy something that you not sure about. As an adult you still have to use a pad on the first & maybe second heavy day. They make a ultra thin pad or a extra heavy pantie liner to wear with the tampon for security. Better safe than sorry! Do some research on Google or Yahoo so you will fully understand everything about them. The dangers and the positives! Then I suggest you try one or two from a friend before deciding to use them.
