Do not take old BC pills........if you dont have BC then use a condom and a backup method such as spermicidal foam. Also...have you both been screened for STDs? Sometimes people aren't always as faithful to you as you thought.........

Condom is very effective unless it breaks or comes off. Look for a Planned Parenthood in your area. They are a great resource and were I live you can get free birth control under the age of 18. You should use both to protect against STD. It sounds like you two are being extremely resposible.

I would suggest that you go to a Planned Parenthood to get on birth control. They make it very easy and inexpensive and you get the pills the first time you go there. Wait a few weeks for it to kick in, or make sure that you use protection. I don't think that the pills will be very effective after that long, and its definatly not worth taking the chance!!!

Just don't take the chance on using it. Most drugs lose their potency after a year. Go see the gynecologist and they will put you on the birth control that is right for you.
So your best bet if you do not want to get pregnant is use more than one method of birth control. Like use a condom and take the pill. Or use spermicide gels along with a condom.

2 years old? EEK! No! While I do recommend the pill, you should go to the doc and get a new prescription if you want to use it. Condoms are effective if used properly, and you don't need me to tell you what that means.
I know you'll hear this from a lot of people, but please reconsider having sex at your age. You're so young! I do respect the fact that you're thinking and planning and being responsible, though.

I think its good that you are considering birth control before you have sex. You shoudl visit a planned parenthood and get a prescription for birth control. Depending on your age and state laws they financial assitance to help you obtain birth control pills. Even if you had one pack of birth control pills that haven't expired you are going to need a couple of packs because they usually say it takes about two pill packs for your body to get used to it.

most meds have around a year shelf life, so i wouldn't trust those pills. Condoms work really well. I have never gotten a gril pregnant while wearing one. They are probably around 99% effective if used right.

Whenever you decide to have sex, use a condom and birth control. Also, check the expiration date on both to make sure they are still effective.

Please don't use old birth control, it expires. Now, about condom effectiveness...I'm 35. They are not 100%. I had sex ONE TIME with my boyfriend, with a condom, and got pregnant. And we used it correctly. So I would say use the condom as your back-up method, and as protection against STDs. Make sure you used something else such as the pill or the shot as well.
Good luck!

condoms are like 99% effective i think, but theres always the chance that it could break if its not put on properly. i would advise you to go on birth control and use condoms so that if the condom ever did break, you wouldnt have to worry too much. but i dont think you should use the birth control thats 2 years old, it could be expired. hope i helped :]

The birth control wont be effective. Get new birth control and make sure the expiration date on the condom is also recent.
Depending on the brand a condom is between 87-97% effective. For best results use a spermacide condom and take a birth control pill.
This should be a new prescription though, and be must be taken on regular intervals. Keep in mind that antibiotics make the pill ineffective. Your entire month is basically shot if you go on antibiotics. It will still help regulate your menstrual cycle, but will not reduce the risk of pregnancy.
Condoms will also reduce the risk of STD's but will not eliminate them. Make sure both you and your partner are clean. This includes HPV.
Best of luck in life and love. :-)

Visit your local family planning center. You'll get better advice there. Also, forget 2 year old medicine of ANY kind. It's almost certainly beyond it's expiration date. Condoms are only effective is used properly.

Let me commend you on thinking about protection before you have sex. A condom is about 86% effect when used correctly. Check the expiration date on the birth control to see if it's still ok. If it's past the expiration date, get a new pack. Check out the links below for more information.

If you have your mind made up on doing it, then yes, please use protection. 2 year old birth control pills will not be effective, so you'll have to get your own... and it's always a good idea to use them as a back up along with condoms.
Be Safe! ^_^

No, expired birth control will not be effective. Condoms are good, but be careful because they can break. Your best bet is to get birth control and use a condom. Also, make sure the condom is not old and you don't see holes in it.

First of all, I think its very good that you're thinking ahead about protection. A condom is very good means of protection. Check the expiration on the birth control. If it is expired, then it will not be effective.
