ObGyn - is not suppose to be a "sexy" job - They see a LOT of disgusting things - so I've always trusted whomever I've gone too. EDIT -- Actually, now that I think back - on certain Tests - It's the Female doctors who are kind of rough and the Male sort of approach it, afraid of hurting you. kalamitouskirsten	Whatever the reasons are for men to get into gynae work, it has to get boring. How many women's bits do you think a gynaecologist looks at EVERY day of their working lives? Most medical people are professional and take their jobs seriously. I doubt a male gynae doctor looks at anyone's vagina and thinks 'phwoar!' LOL. We're just slabs of meat on a table. I know a doctor who, after he had finished training in the gynae side of the job, said he was totally put off vagina's for ages! Take into account the fact that most of the women these folks see on a daily basis have some sort of problem they want looked at....can you imagine looking at infected, inflamed or diseased vagina's all day long? freckles2	Maybe it would be the pefect job for men if the girls were all under the age of 30, wearing high heels and suspenders and were on all fours but that is not the case, is it! ♥G~G♥	Well my doc. is a male and it's not weird when i'm gettin checked, but once he was doing a breast exam on me and it was a little weird. He started from da side and it was tickling me and i was laughing and then he was laughing and then he said my breast were really tender and i asked him if that's good or bad and he said "no it's good, and then he said it's o.k." But other then that, he's a good doctor. It just depends it, could be a little weird sometime, but it could also be another job. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Have Issues Will Travel	haver you ever been to a male gynecologist? Yes, never been to a FEMALE gyno does it seem creepy at all? No, not really seems like that would be a perfect job for a guy, all day long looking at naked chicks. Yeah, and they've only seen a few thousand probably, so they all look the same. They're probably sick and tired of looking at them. unless of course she is old and shriveled and her lower regions look like an old grilled cheese sandwich.----yuck! do you think a lot of guys go into that line for work for that reason?---If they do I'm sure they get disillusioned pretty darned quickly. I wouldn't think "a lot" of them would anyway, maybe 1 or 2 pervs in the whole country per year try to go into the field----I would imagine they do something in med school or their residency that gives them away and kicked out of the program though. Seems like that would be a pretty difficult thing to hide for long--if you're that obsessed. remember there have been cases of women taken advantage of by those guys.---Yes, but they've also been taken advantage of by dentists, clergy, teachers, regular doctors, etc. as well. And with porn you don't need to no diseases and have to look at the diseas. Half the people will have like virus and infections and that doesn't seem pleasant to stare at all day, does it? jocwonton	I actually have always prefered going to male gynecologists. And really think about it. Looking at vaginas in a clinical sense 50-60 times a day sort of takes the surprise out of it. And as for those few men who did take advantage of their patients, most agencies have a nurse come and stand with the doctor while he. or she, does the examination. Was this answer helpful to you? mommy7_810	yes I had a male gyno. it does seem a little uncomfortable, but they always have a female nurse in the room during. some guys may do that for that reason, but some guys do it because they like children. the male doctor I had was a great doctor. and answered more questions for me then the female doctors did. murph99990	I've seen male Gynecologists. At the beginning, it was rather strange, but one gets accustomed to it. I would agree on this being an ideal job for a heterosexual male, but it's not like he won't be seeing ugly women too. I don't believe males choose to be gynecologists so they can see vaginas all day long. Although, I would like to know the inspiration as to why they would choose that line of work. Amy H	My OB/GYN is a really nice guy. He delivered me so it's all good, he understands my problems that I've had from birth. (Asthma, sensitive stomach, etc) It's not creepy but it's awkward sometimes. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

By saying this it proves that some guys should NOT get this job. It is very degrading for us to hear this. I agree with you that many guys are probably into that job because of that. But some are not. They have to look at men too. I have personally asked for a female OBJYN because I do not feel comfortable. But now that I have been attending for awhile I no longer care. But some girls hate it very much. Yes I know that some females take advantage of this, but most women have a life (no offense to those who do) and don't need to get a guy by showing them our private areas. PinkMyst	I was seen by a male student but I requested a woman because I'm sorry, it's MY health, I should get to choose who sees MY bits. I've often wondered this too but it kind of ties in with cosmetic surgery and a mid wife so maybe it's quite interesting as it differs from woman to woman. I think though, that it should be made illegal because it's just wrong. (Kind of like the pervy teachers I remember from school when I was younger and we all had to to Physical education in underwear. VERY WRONG) Certain things society does not address some people say it's sexist to say that gynecologists should all be women but I think that this has become an age of unnecessary debate and it is perfectly fine to take the thoughts of many women all over the world to change this. Spiky	To be honest it will get really boring after a while and they will loose interest in it. Infact its a curse to a male gynaec. They loose interest in their wives or girl friends parts coz its not a novelty anymore. Lets say U love eating KFC. Sophie	No way! I would never be a penis doctor because I don't understand what it's like to have one. Woman gynos, all the way. Obsetrician I wouldn't mind having a male for that. NYDoc	At the hospital I work out we have a couple of male gynecologist, and yes, I have consulted one before. It isn't creepy at all. He's a doctor like any other, and he sees vaginas like a cardiologist would look at someone's heart. To them it's just another limb. I know many straight guys who don't go into gynecology because they don't want to look at naked chicks everyday, especially diseased vaginas. Actually we are taught in med school that male gynecologists will have a very hard sex life. After seeing vaginas at work, they don't want to go home and see another vagina. xxrainbowsongxx@sbcglobal.net	i love this question! most of the gynos i've been to have been men, in fact. there is no tension because the doctors take special measures to make the patient feel more comfortable. one of the main ways they do this is by temporarily "depersonalizing" you (or, me rather!) by not making eye contact, talking, exposing one body part at a time... they are very careful about that. also, there is always a witness in the room (usually a nurse, female) to protect the doctor as well as the patient against potential sexual harrassment or other lawsuits. i think men are gyno's because it's a great job that pays well. sexual interest might be the preliminary reason, but after having a pelvic or a woman's wellness exam, i always wonder later how they can "get it on" with their wives. seeing that every day, so much...it also desensitizes the doctor. a vagina is a vagina, and it's all technical..a job. professional. can you imagine what the gynocologists must see and smell, dealing with the public? i wonder how he does it, yet part of me understands..it's his or her chosen career. even when i was a teen, it was never a bad experience to see the gyno. it's about women's health, and it's important, just like men's health. women have been taken advantage of...and that is why there is always a female witness in the room. i don't know if that's a state or federal law. in addition, i'd like to say that normally a gyno. is looking at things inside that aren't sexy looking, like a cervix that could be potentially nasty. they don't really look around the vulva area unless it really needs to be done. like if you have a herpe or a wart... i saw someone say they've never been. i hope they're young, because not taking care of yourself down there and getting yearly PAPS is just effin' nasty! wouldn't you prefer a healthy vagina over a "curious looking" one?
