It's up to you, really. Tampons let you do more things like play sports, go swimming, etc. Pads are nice too, since you can't get diseases from it, like TSS that's associated with the tampon.

How old are you? How heavy is your flow? Its really up to you. Some women with really heavy flow use both. Tampons are not so cumbersum and you stay drier but anything you put up there, if its not clean, could cause an infection. If you are not moist enough, it could cause an irritation. Pads are non-invasive and will never give you an infection but you could encounter leakage. Depends on your personal preference

Tampons in my opinion are the best! Thy dont feel like diapers and dont listen to what some people say they dont hurt if they are inserted up far enough you dont even feel them! Congrats on your period and welcome to womanhood!

Don't use tampons for your first period, use a heavy pad. If you are going swimming or going to do something where you are active and can't concentrate on making sure you're not bleeding, wear a tampon.

Use a tampon and wear a pad as-well because the tampon will leak at one unexpected point and you will need to change your tampon and pad once again. This way your clothes will be safe!

I like tampons...the pads are a pain for me. They never stay put and they are messy and nasty. If you are comfortable using tampons then use them. If you have never used them before give them a try, once you get the hang of it its really easy!!!

depends on how heavy your menstral flow is, if it is heavy enough and you are comfortable with it, then use a tampon
it is your preference not ours

Its really a personal choice, but tampons give you a little more freedom since there are things you can't do with pads.
(Like swimming and running)

pads are better because they let it flow, but for some activities you will need a tampon

i prefer tampons but would reccommend for your first couple periods to use pad. tampons can be used for up to 8 hrs. and it is ok to sleep with one in and yes they do cause tss but it says right on the box of tampons that tss is very rare. you cant get any other diseases from tampons and they are more comfortable than pads. but like i said for your first couple periods i would use pads or they do make slim tampons which are more comfortable than regular tampons.
