I'm 15 years old, and I haven't had a period in 3 months. What could be wrong w/me?
I started having periods when I was 11. They used to be regular, but now they're all messed up. I haven't had one in over 3 months now. When I do get my period it is extremely painful, and I get really sick. I haven't had sex so I know I'm not pregnant. I'm getting kinda worried about it. I'm not underweight or stressed out or anything.... What could be wrong with me? I'm afraid to go to a doctor. I've never been to a gyn. before, and I don't know what to expect.

Please help me!

hello ! i got this off the internet for you, i hope it answers your question. hope you feel better sweety.
before i cut and paste it might make you feel better to know that when a man gets kicked in the nuts...its the same pain as a period pain lol here is the answer FROM GOOGLE:

Missed periods
It can be baffling when you have missed your period but your pregnancy test is negative. Since the urine pregnancy test is quite accurate there are chances that maybe you have some other reason for missed periods.

Missing a menstrual period is a lot more common than most people realize. This is often called amenorrhea, which is the technical word for absence of menstrual periods. In women who are not pregnant, amenorrhea is usually due to a hormonal imbalance. While these hormonal imbalances are not usually serious, there are some long-term health risks that can be avoided with treatment. Understand that missing a period is neither a disease nor a sure sign that you're pregnant. Sometimes missing a period is perfectly normal and doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Usually if the period is late and the woman is not pregnant, the cause is hormonal. This means that she is not ovulating regularly for some reason. Missed periods are often caused as a result of undergoing a lot of stress. Stress can upset the normal hormonal balance in your body, causing your period to come late, or skip for one month. Some other characteristic causes of missed periods include undergoing any major changes in your life, such as moving, starting a new job, or changed eating or exercise habits. Loss of significant amount of weight can also cause you to miss a menstrual period. If you find that this condition persists over a few months, you should make an appointment with a doctor.

If you miss more than three cycles or have any symptoms that are worrying you, you should see your doctor to check for the cause of the problem. Usually it does not turn out to be serious and may resolve on its own. But it is advisable to invest in your health before it gets out of control. Whether or not you are trying to get pregnant, the associated hormonal imbalances caused by missed periods may take a toll on your health in the long run. Avoid that by getting in control of your cycles.

well my guess is that maybe your stressing about it a bit too much.. okay maybe you dont think so. and as you havent had your period in a couple of months and not on the contrceptive pill so your body is relying on its self to work insted of having a pill which makes you run like clockwork..
tell your mum. or a older cusin. and go to the doctor with them if you are really worrid!

but i think you will be fine!! :)
good luck xx

Please, please, please see a gynecologist. It's so important to care care of your body, you only have one! There may be nothing wrong but why not get checked on? Every woman sees one and since you are having pain and discomfort I would STRONGLY advise you to make an appointment. If you are worried about anyone knowing, not that there is any shame in it at all, but you could get a free and private appointment at Planned Parenthood I think. Good luck.

Ur simply having irregular periods and it needs to be looked in to. I kno the fear of not wanting to go to the gyn, but it would be the best idea. They can help. If something happens to be wrong, atleast you could fix it early on instead of waiting for it to get worse. Eventually in life you will have to see the gyn, so go ahead and get it over with now. After it's all over with, u'll be glad u did. They may even prescribe u birth control pills to make u have a normal period. That way, u'll already be on them and save the fear of any possible pregnancies when u do decide to start having sex. Go get help with this situation. It may not be as bad as you expect.

You should talk to your mom about it, and you MUST go see a doctor, it's not normal to have period delayed for 3 months, could be tumours (not the bad ones, but still) could be anything, the doctors exist to help us, so stop being scared and start thinking about your health... go see a doctor, hun.
Good luck!

First you really need to go to a doctor, all of us go through this, you wait till your older and have a baby! every one will have had a look!

Remember the doctor/gyn will has seen it all and worse before, start with saying your worried and embarrassed, if you start to go red, say see i told you i was embarrased, you will not be the first person to do that

most important thing is to try and relax, there are there to help

a gyn will have had years of training (years of looking at others) they are not interested at looking at you, just finding out what is wrong

if you need anything done ask for a nurse to be present, remember to breath!

the doctor will properly just wanna chat, and maybe a swab and wee test at first,

please get it seen to, ask to see a lady doctor too

It is not unusual for periods to get all whacked out. Just the same, you should get a check up and see a GYN. All they do is take your medical history, do a basic physical like BP, weight, and heart rate, then do the GYN exam. It is not painful and is fast. Here's how it goes:

Best time for exam is mid-cycle.
Know when you started your last period, had your first period and describe any problems or discomfort you are having.

You will be asked to undress and get a gown to put on.
Empty your bladder before the exam.
You will be asked to slide down the table and put your feet up in metal stirrups. A sheet will be placed over your knees so you aren't naked to the world.
You will get a breast exam, looking for lumps and such.
A speculum (instrument shaped like a duck bill) will be slid into your vagina with a lubricant. Relaxing will help this part.
The medical person will exam your female organs on the outside and in, checking for signs of irritation, inflammation, cysts, warts, and other conditions.
A tiny brush will brush your cervix to collect cells to send to the lab. This is a "pap test". It checks for STDs and diseases such as cervical cancer.
A swab of vaginal fluids will also be taken to check for infections.
Next your ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterous will be checked by the doctor or nurse inserting two lubricated fingers into your vagina and one hand on your abdomen so she can feel the organs for abnormalities or discomfort.
You let her know if anything is uncomfortable. The nurse or doctor should be letting you know what they are doing, and when they are doing it so you aren't scared. Take someone with you if you are scared. They can stand up by your head where they can't see anything.

Then you will get dressed and the results of the exam will be talked over with you. If you need more tests, you will find out then.
The swab and pap will be sent to the lab. You will probably only get a phone call if there is a problem, but call for the results in a week if no one has called you. Don't assume they are fine until you ask.

That is the long and short of it. Go get a check up. None of us like it, but all of us know it is necessary. Get one at least yearly.

Good luck. Don't worry.

Just go to the doctor if there is a serious (not saying there is) cause it is better to go now. When you schedule the appointment you can ask them what they think about it on the phone. They may be able to give you a possible cause so you won't have to worry until the appointment. Going to the obgyn sucks but it's not that bad.

you should probably tell your mom to take you to the doctor, especially if your period is extremely painful. you might need to be put on birth control to regulate your period or something... don't worry about going to the doctor. yeah it's a little awkward, but in the end your just there to take care of yourself right? ask your mom what it's like to go to a gynecologist.

you should go to a doctor and get examined, there are a number of illnesses related to those symptoms and you won't know until you go. also you should tell your parents if you haven't already.

You should probably see a doctor. You may have a severe iron deficency that can stop your periods or it could even be a cyst - both need to be checked and both are treatable.

Don't be afraid to go to the doctor. There are very often very simple answers to why this is happening.

You need to tell your mom or someone close to you. Going to the dr may feel uncomfortable, but the way i had to thinkabout it was that the dr sees this thing every day all day. Its no biggie to him/her. It is important that you go, you could have something wrong with you or just need a dnc, (it just cleans you out.) Or the dr may put you on birthcontrol pills to make your periods more tolerable and regular.

well the gyno question is quite simple. what'll you get is a pap smear. and they will swap your vagina with a extra long q-tip to check for yeast infections and other stuff and theyll put pressure on your abdomon to check your overies.

now lets see you could just have an extremely irregular period. and you can ask to be put on birth control. becuase even if your not having sex the hormones help you regulate your period (thats why i'm on them!). ans talk to your doctor about a low hormone birth control pill cause you can gain wieght with a high hormone pill.

where is the pain? your lower back and abdomon? cramps can be severe, while there could be a problem such as a yeast infection or something else the symptons should present itself daily not just when you have your period. try Advil liquid gels, thats what i use for cramps. also dont lay down! i know you want to but if you walk around your cramps wont be as bad becuase your muscles wont have to contract to push out the menstral flow as much cause by moving around your doing the work for your muscles!.

idk what to tell you about you being sick.... are you throwing up or just feel nauseous? theres a difference.

also it may have stopped becuase of dieting or being extremely active. do you excercise alot? and have you cut back on eating? if so your body has stopped your menstrual cycle as a sort of "fail-safe" . your body will register your condition and if your not eating enough or over excercising it thinks your not fit to have a baby and will make it so you wont become pregenet.

either way i hope i helped! and you should definitly see a doctor for a papsmear. and why your there talk to your doctor about getting the shot that helps reduce the chance for cervical cancer!

I would DEFINITELY recommend seeing your doctor or ob/gyn ASAP. Tell your parents if you haven't already - this is almost certainly a medical issue, and could be serious.

The only cause I could think of that may cause this is low iron - were you anemic as a child, or are you now?

Either way, TELL SOMEBODY! This could be quite serious.

Until you get older its normal for you not to have a regular period. OB/GYN visits aren't anything to be afraid of. Its a little uncomfortable the first time but nothing too bad. The doctor makes it easier on you, they've been thru this a million times. If its really bothersome to you just ask your mom to make an appt.

With being young, your menstrual cycle can be sporadic. Have you started any type of sports? Usually more exercise can lead to a lay-off of your monthly. Tell your Mom! It might be something underlying or nothing at all...only a doctor can really tell. If you are uncomfortable with male doctors, see if your Mom can find you a female doc to check you out. I hope you go to your Mom.

Hmmm . . . sorry to tell you, honey, but you really do need to go to the doctor. When our bodies get out of whack, it's usually 'cuz there's something going on that shouldn't be! I'm sorry to hear about your painful periods, I suffered with them for many years. They tell you it gets better after having a baby . . . BIG LIE. The one thing that really works (talk to your mom and doc about this) is birth control pills. They regulate your period so that it's not too heavy, doesn't last too long, and best of all, doesn't cause so much pain! No more missing a day of school every month!

I know the gynecologist can be a little scary, but again, talk to your mom (sister, aunt, friend or friend's mom). It is a little embarassing the first time, and it may help to have a woman doctor. I've had both, and though the male doctors I've had have been wonderful and totally professional, I just simply prefer going to a female doctor.

The nurse will take your temp and blood pressure (like a normal visit). Then she'll give you a paper gown and paper blanket and ask you to get undressed. She'll leave the room. Get undressed (everything off) and put on the paper gown. Sit up on the examining table and put the paper blanket across your lap. Pretty soon the doctor will knock and ask if you're ready. He or she will come in and proceed with the examination. Usually, the doctor will explain what she is doing as she goes along. Feel free to ask questions when your nervous or curious. There will be poking and prodding of all your body parts. She'll do a breast exam and then, what we all hate--the pelvic exam. This is slightly uncomfortable, but if you just relax, it won't hurt and will be over in seconds.

If you totally and completely cannot speak to your mother about this, please go to Planned Parenthood for your check up. Yes, they do lots more than just birth control. But three months without a period does warrant a check up.
