When it comes you tell your mom that you need to talk to her privately for a minute about something very important. Then when you get in to another room you just let her know that your period started and need help finding pads (if you aren't sure where to find them that is).

What's the problem? You just calmly walk up to your mom, tell her to sit down because you have something serious to tell her. When she sits down. Tell her: "Mom I love you very much. You have been a wonderful mom to me during my childhood. I will cherish my childhood days for the rest of my life. But now mom, I am no longer a child, I'm a...... WOMAN!!! I started my period".

Just tell her you started your period. Just like that. This will not be a surprise for your mom. It happens to all females of a certain age, including her. It's perfectly natural. Relax. Don't worry about it.

You just have to tell her straight out.
"Mum, I got/started my period."
Don't be embarrassed about it or anything. Your mum's a woman, she's gotten it too.

Just say, "Hey mom, I got my period." or "Hey mom, I need some pads/tampons."
Hopefully you won't have to tell your grandma. -.-

Just tell her upfront. Your mom was supposed to warn you about the period before it comes.
You mom is your mom. She must be a first person to tell such intimate things.

By just being up front. She's probably the best one to confide in since she is your Mom, and she's been through this before...

Actually, i was nervouse too when i had to tell my mom. But my case was a little diffrent because i thought i had some strange disease lol but then i told her straight out, before begging her that i dont want to see a doctor lol. Just tell her straight out, she goes through the same thing, she'll understand.
